I’m not drawing the correlation of Ayahuasca meaning he can’t learn a playbook, it’s that he keeps his personal time to his personal time. When given the choice to be studying some other guy’s playbook or taking meditation trips or visits to some other grand landmarks or whatever political whim he fancies, I promise you the playbook isn’t in his wishlist of things to do. We hired Hackett specifically because he didn’t want to learn a new offense. The guy is retiring, be thankful.
You are going to end up very disappointed when the fact that never happens blows up much of your speculative reasoning. Zero chance Aaron retires himself imo. Way too much narcissism and love for the attention playing in the NFL gives him for that. When that time comes it'll the league and complete lack of any anybody willing to hand him a starting job that will end up doing that honor. We ain't there yet though. And we especially ain't there on a Woody Johnson owned team who, unfortunately for much of the fanbase, is going to end up prioritizing AR's ability to generate team buzz over basically everything you've been talking about hoping the team does in those last few posts. Because that is just the Jets way of doing things.
Again, just because the guy took some trips doesn't mean he is not hard working or not willing to learn. All of these guys have personal time and so they should. Doesn't mean they are not willing to spend time to learn new play-book. I really don't see a problem. If he retires and we find someone better, I will be thankful. But if he is not there and we are back to #32 rated QB starter as we were for 14 years starting 2009, with the exception of 2015, then there is nothing be thankful for.
uhh what. He could retire and we stumble into something better. also only 2 of these players blew off minicamp: Reddick and Rodgers. So it’s not true that everyone does it. Those are the only 2
After 2008 we stumbled into someone better exactly one time: 2015. All other seasons our QB play was ranked #32 out of 32. And that was A LOT of seasons. It needs to be more than stumble, we need to know we can get someone better. I do not want to go back to #32, not sure about you. Also, I never said all players miss minicamp. I said all players have personal time, which they don't necessarily use for football activities. Rodgers was being a diva there, but he did attend all voluntary stuff, which he did not have to. The point I made was that I did not see any evidence he can't or won't learn new playbook when we have a new coach.
If he doesn’t retire he will seriously limit our coaching and GM options. Good GM’s and coaches don’t come when you’re saddling them with requirements to keep prior regime leftovers.
Every GM/Coach inherits players. Rodgers is another player, that's it. They will not be required to keep him. If a new GM finds a better QB, I would be all for it. But if not ... All I am saying is I do not want a worse QB than we what currently have.
More importantly, we need to know that we have a system in place that even ever allows whoever that somebody is to do "better". If there is one full acknowledgement takeaway a lot "Hackett isn't going to kill us with Rodgers at QB!" Jets fans should walk out of 2024 with....it's coaching matters, and individual talent at QB will rarely if ever trump a terrible coaching room and broken system. Agreed though that this idea Rodgers can't or won't learn a new playbook doesn't really gel imo. The only reason it's not going to happen here is because we have an owner that has allowed the QB to have final say rights to any decision there , and it's pretty clear by the lack of a Hackett firing that Aaron Rodgers isn't going to choose to do that if he's not being forced (or probably even being asked for that matter) to do it. When he moves on in 2026 to play for whoever will take him I"d be willing to bet you wouldn't hear a single complaint peep about that aspect. Like no debate here that Rodgers isn't a major diva. But him being *here* is doing just as much to feed a lot of those smaller aspects.
this time last year the Redskins were hopeless. They have a list of failed QBs longer than ours. Now they are the envy of the league with Daniels. no reason to think just because Rodgers leaves we go from 18th to 32nd at QB, it’s not like Rodgers is playing MVP level anyway. i really really hope this is it for him
After he couldn't complete one series without getting injured there were a lot of worries about his health this year. On FB fans of other teams made lots of jokes about this before the start of this season. Perhaps we should see if Rodgers can finish all seventeen games without mishap before we worry about next year. Unless we really want to rip off the band aid and rebuild his contract does not give the team much flexibility or control of his future.
Like we saw last year in Houston the turn around happening in Washington atm has a lot more going right for it then the QB pick they drafted. For starters they got full from the ground up reboot that included new ownership. We get to start from a place where our own ownership looked over at the 2022 Denver Broncos season after-the-fact and was essentially like - "I WANT THAT". Which even garnered an overwhelming amount of support for doing it out of this fanbase. That stuff people like to point to is happening on a plane of functional execution that might as well have a blueprint written alien hieroglyphs as far as our own franchise's ability to copy it goes
If we keep winning with AR this thread will have less and less relevance ..lol just watch Of course that’s a big IF ..my hunch is that if Rogers stays healthy and fulfills his promise getting us a playoff spot then hes the Hero we want back in 2025..I hope that plays out cause right now the guy is not living up to Resume and we all got fooled When do we start the Favre 2.0 comparisons? ?? Let’s hope we don’t . Rogers hates the dark places ..well so do we all
It's amazing that Aaron rodgers is 4th in the Nfl in passing yards and is miles better than Zack Wilson was last year and we are still 3-6 worse than last year, Aaron Rodgers aint Mahomes but he aint the problem atleast on the field he ain't, this year is just living proof how bad the people running this organization is and how horrible the coaching is, with proper coaching we are a easy playoff team this year. But we have literal meatheads coaching this team.
Our D is a lot less capable than last year, our kicking cost us at least two games, our running game is not productive at all, our penalties are horrendous, taking points off the board, I believe three touchdowns already, we are a collection of players that do not play together as a team. We are worst than last year by a bunch even with a much better QB.
This all reflects on coaching and not the players, Our running game is not productive at all but we have 2 studs at our running back position, our penalties are horrendous and we are taking points off the board once again coaching, we have morons for coaching who are getting the least out of players and holding no one accountable. I mean we had Hackett calling plays for half the season of run, run pass for god sakes with a 10 play call sheet, once again this comes back to the morons woody has hired. good coaches have won with far less talent, the Jets have the talent to atleast make the playoffs, its the coaching thats getting the least out of the talent.
I also agree that coaching, especially offense, is our number problem. By a mile. We do too many stupid things, especially pre snap penalties like false starts, illegal shifts, etc. We can’t run a screen pass for shit and half of them either get blown up behind the line or get called back for illegal man downfield. Our OL looks lost half the time, double teaming a rusher while letting another go untouched. Just brutal to watch. We lead the league in penalties. Again. And they are not all “effort” penalties…too many dumb unforced penalties. Gotta fix the coaching first
