what make it much, much worse, in true jets fashion, is thet the guy they cut, austin siebert, is tearing it up in washington.
Kicking competition tomorrow apparently… imagine they trot him out there Thursday, and he misses one?
Don't worry, a kicker equivalent of Tim Boyle will be coming in soon. Too bad there is no Black Friday game this year.
It truly is amazing how Douglas could screw up like this two years in a row. It's almost as if he thinks that a GM's job is done in late July and doesn't start again until mid-January.
Kicking competition, baby, I'm so excited! This is where the season turns, fellas! This is the big moment! Just a kicker away!
Can't wait for the excuses about it being a short week to start. I know it's difficult for kickers to learn the playbook in such a short time, but we're in crisis here.
But like what if he wins the competition? Are they just going to keep him even though he cannot perform during games? If not.... then why is he still on the roster?
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...kickers-including-cade-york-and-zane-gonzalez The Jets worked out kickers Zane Gonzalez, Brayden Narveson, Riley Patterson, Spencer Shrader, Andre Szmyt and Cade York on Tuesday at MetLife Stadium, Mike Garafolo reports. York missed his two attempts in his only game for Washington this season and is 24-of-34 in his career; Gonzalez, who has not kicked in the NFL since 2021, is 91-of-113 (80.5 percent) on field goals in his career and 127-of-134 on extra point ties; Narveson kicked for the Packers in six games this season, making only 12-of-17 field goals; Patterson is 59-of-67 (88.1 percent) in his 39-game career over three seasons; Shrader made all three extra point attempts in his only game with the Colts this season and did not try a field goal; and Szmyt has never kicked in a regular-season game. Jets coach Jeff Ulbrich said the team will continue tryouts for kickers Wednesday.
How about one of those guys we read about every few years who kicks for a college or high school team and also plays in the marching band for halftime? We should at least get some fun out of the deal. Maybe some bar should run a kicking contest to coincide with Sunday Night Football to produce the next great sensation for the following week.
