Doubtful, because then Woody would have to shoulder all of the blame in the media. And he'd also have to answer some really uncomfortable questions about why he fired the guy who put together the roster that Woody said, oh all of 3 weeks ago, was the best roster the Jets have had in almost three decades. Douglas aint going anywhere folks. And he's probably going to get to pick the next coach too.
I'm going to miss that face Joe makes at press conferences that reminds me of a baby straining to take a shit in their diaper.
Speaking of that, when is Douglas going to have a press conference and face the music a little? Rodgers, Ulbrich, those guys have to stand up and answer to this shit show every week. Douglas gets to hide with snacks in his office
Joe has always hidden behind the press conference requirements, I don't remember if he ever did an unscheduled presser and doubt he'll start now. It's how he has stayed out of their crosshairs. That and maybe some leniency after a reporter stalked his kid. I believe we'll see him at the trade deadline.
Why is Joe still the fn gm? So he can trade away more draft picks and get the next gm fired? Jets are always a step to late, if they hired a legitimate coach and gm last offseason guaranteed they are not 2-6 right now
If they are really going to fire Joe then ASAP is the best time to do it. Don't wait until he makes things worse at the trade deadline. They can name whoever as interim and give a really solid look at potential dumbasses for the job. Don't wait until after the season when other teams have already snapped up the better candidates. The pool of potential GMs has to be limited to rookies across the board and even now some are probably looking at this job like a career killer. Is there another Beane brother out there or something? This will either need to be really outside of the box, or maybe they will just get a consulting firm to pick their new candidate with ChatGPT. Very exciting times. We could unknowingly be on the precipice of A NEW GOLDEN AGE OF JETS FOOTBALL
This may be Joe ds worst offseason yet and that’s saying something used top picks on Olu and Malachai who don’t even play, traded a 3rd for a moron who sat out half the year and now looks like he isn’t in shape, refused to cut zurlein who cost us 4 games this season, every free agent signing he made looks terrible. I am not sure how woody fired saleh without firing jd to
33 games under 500, 6 years in and the team is somehow worse, traded away assets to be 2-6. How the hell does this guy still have a job?
As a guy who thought JD was >>>>>this<<<<< close... I really did. This is not working, unfortunately. Even the things that were working, aren't anymore.
Would anyone want Thomas Dimitroff? He was the Atlanta GM between 2008-2020. Falcons had the 8th best winning percentage during his time there. 6 playoff appearances. Also rebuilt the team in the middle with hiring Quinn who was not a bad hire, just obviously had the Super Bowl blunder but is now doing good in Washington.
This GM refuses to make changes because he doesn't want egg on his face and it's been that way since he got here. Greg the Leg is on the team because if they cut him it means they were wrong to pay him It's the reason Zach was here a year to long It's the same reason why Clemons is on the team because they don't want another missed draftpick on the roster It's why Tyron Smith is still starting and Olu isn't playing LT. They don't want to admit it was a mistake to sign him. It is all ego and avoiding egg on this fuckers face. This guy is going to GM 100 games over 6 years and have a .300 win percentage. It has to be nearly impossible to be this bad.
Good call out. I noticed this a while ago about JD. His EGO drives a lot of his personnel decisions. We'll never really know whose idea it was to suck off Rodgers but I'm sure somebody had to want Carr and was overruled. All of your points are spot on. There is the terrifying thought that Woody will run it back again with a multiyear extension to Douglas.
His contract is up at the end of the season, he’s basically already fired. This was a make or break season for everyone.
You never know with Woody. All we can as fans is continue beating the "blow it up" drum. Woody pays attention to what is said about his team.
my big worry is they go on a late run of wins, just miss the playoffs and this is enough for them to decide to bring back the old gang for one more try
