It makes a lot of sense to anybody that is actually willing to acknowledge Rodgers' very extensive track record of having a dark and prickly type personality pop out when things aren't going well or when *he's* feeling criticized. Which at times and at least among a lot of his critics out there can sometimes come across more as trying to push failure accountability off himself more so then anything else. And yeah of course I watched it. Like i said I thought it was weak ass and another dark/prickly Aaron Rodgers example where he knew exactly what he was doing there and just didn't care in the moment. There is a time and a place for that stuff as a team leader wanting to genuinely hold people accountable in a productive manner, and it certainly wasn't right there. Which unsurprising seems to be the take from every former player or WR I've seen today that weighed in on it. Again, I've always been the type to be able to look away from most things in the name of having better talent or giving the team a better chance to win. But moments like that do remind me that a lot of that outside hate surrounding the guy, who don't share my own core values on that, doesn't just come from nowhere. It was a bad look moment for him imo
Yeah WIlliams sucked on the route. You know who else sucked? AROD, throwing it 10 yards short regardless of route. He missed GW too on the 1st half PI call that Ruckert's penalty negated. On that throw if he hits GW in stride its a TD. AROD was pretty solid last night but he also threw a few like shit. And that was one of them.
I'm surprised he was solid considering the amount of damage his leg took against the Broncos. If they can't protect him I don't know if it matters who is lined up at receiver.
He got lucky with the Hail Mary. Take that away and it’s another poor performance. 1 TD 1 INT ~200 yards and 13 points scored. Thats been typical of Rodgers this season and last season with Wilson too honestly
Where do you get less than 200 yards? He finishes with 242 passing yards without the Hail Mary. Show me some examples of Rodgers post-game press conference comments having any sort of negative locker room effect on a team? That’s strictly your opinion that it wasn’t the right time and place. I’ll believe it when I hear of locker room problems. Players usually defer to the HOF quarterback having a bit of a license to say what needs to be said. I don’t even know what the last paragraph has anything to do with anything? You’re bragging about your ability to analyze things “off the field” lol.
Rodgers is always going to turn a lot of people off because he really does walk the role of narcissist and it's pretty blatant. However that's a part of what makes him work so well on the field and he is able to mix in genuine leadership from what I have seen. The Williams comment was the first time I saw him flat out say that a player fucked up, but it was the last offensive play they got and I'm sure there were still emotions. Even then I don't view it as some egregious call-out, he was very technical in his explanation and was probably replaying it in his head as he answered the direct question about what went wrong on that last play. He could have mentioned all the other drops and shit routes that Williams has run If he wanted to throw him under the bus. This is grasping
You summed it up better than I did. It didn’t really sound like an under the bus toss. Not anything of any consequence at least. He explained the play to the reporter. And I don’t really care if it was. Mike Williams was Douglas’s dumbfuck attempt of giving Rodgers another receiver and passing on Bowers or any other options. He can’t even get his alignment spacing or route right.
I wish Orlovsky had talked with Williams and asked him where he expected the ball to be before going all in on what the other guy said he expected.
Color me skeptical on that. If like basically everything else Rodgers related you spent the winter/spring/summer randomly arguing with me about and where it turned out you were completely wrong on is any indicator, you'd more likely just carry on after-the-fact as if you never actually really doubted it in the first place The last sentence was simply an observation I wouldn't expect you to ever acknowledge while he's the QB of this football team btw. Fair enough that such is one leaning in to a "support my team's guy" way to potentially frame how that situation might of played itself out. Of course another way to frame it might point to the fact that Rodgers, one of the most scrutinized players in NFL history and has probably been in that spot and done more of those post game interviews then any other currently active player in the NFL, deserves more awareness credit then you want to give them here. That ain't his first post-loss rodeo, and we are talking team PR 101 basics there. Where the whole core point of giving that very technical breakdown ended being to essentially explain and make perfectly clear that it wasn't *HIS* fault he threw that pick. It was *THIS* guy's fault for specifically doing *THIS*. Unlike the other guy here my push back question won't ask for cop out type evidence I know people can't provide since none of us are in the locker room. Show me a clip of Tom Brady or any other vet NFL QB who found themselves in that same spot and choose to give a detailed out breakdown to a play that explained how the pick they threw was actually somebody else's fault and failure and not their own. Like who really does that, and if it really was a nothingburger why don't we see that happen more?
Every Fox Sports former player analyst who I watched directly weigh in on this yesterday disagreed on your own take there btw/fwtw. Their takes seemed to all be in universal agreement that it was something you just don't do and which should never happen.
go look through some Rodgers to Davante hilites.. know what YOU DO NOT SEE??? him underthrowing it and Tae needing to stop or come back for it.... I CALL BULLSHIT!!! mayyyybe @ 0:53 secs and a backshoulder @ 6:01 otherwise... the throws are leading the receiver, not grossly underthrown as were the last two weeks dying fucking ducks to end the game... the overwhelming majority of the catches made by Tae in the vid are catches Mike Williams also can make
Careful. That seems a lot more deserving for being called out here as "bragging about your ability to analyze things off the field" then anything I've said Those Fox guys are former players who have actually been in those locker rooms. If they are all in universal agreement that it would be an issue I'm more tempted to buy into their takes on it then you own, and which seemingly wants to be defensive here by default.
ANYONE else whose a QB would be villified for blaming 2 SHITE throws that were not catchable on the WR and NO ONE HERE woul dare suggest it even ( that it was anything other than a shit pair of throws)
Rodgers says Williams ran the wrong route. Here is what he said: "It's two vertical [routes]. Allen [Lazard] is down the seam and Mike is down the red line. I'm looking at Allen, he puts his hand up and three guys go with him. So I'm throwing a no-look to the red line. And when I peek my eyes back there, [Williams] is running an in-breaker. He's got to be on the red line. It's the little things every single time." But Williams was running the red line and Rodgers is looking right at him. Williams never broke inside, but the pass was so bad it wouldn't matter where he broke.
Yeah, if Williams gets butt hurt over being called out - in the mildest of fashion - too bad. He screwed up. Just like so many other Jets screw up and aren't held accountable by anyone apparently. Lack of precise and disciplined route running - among lack of precise and disciplined performance in most of the other positions - is why the Jets keep failing and flailing. They could win a lot more games, but their half-assed mental effort undoes them every time.
"Rodgers, 40, hasn't been the same quarterback since he lost Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022. From 2022 to present, he ranks 31st out of 35 qualified passers in Total QBR, ahead of only Aidan O'Connell, Mac Jones, Bryce Young and Will Levis." completion % la st 2 years w/ Adams was amazing I must say... 77.2 and 72.8 % thats ..umm...bonkers and they'll need to do something in the north of 65% area to make a difference... cos, as GW was with other QB's, his catch % is pretty crap... 57% first 2 years and 61% this year... doesnt justify all the targets
I have to laugh at these comments regarding "dyingDuck throws... the guy threw a bullet in the rec gut with three guys around him, on of which was a saftey that had his back to QB and the ball went pass his hip. Not sure the poster but he got it right went he said the WR need to make adjustments on the fly...Wilson hasn't but is getting then and Williams hasn't at all.
