Honestly I don't see gaping holes and am generally optimistic and intrigued by depth and younger options so I don't see a big need for waiver claims. I even think we're good with OT depth now. If Yeboah is out for an extended period (just 4-week IR, right?), Parham could be a good option. TE depth after Conklin and Ruckert is really iffy if Yeboah is out. Wouldn't mind adding a vet or developmental QB to the practice squad though
The only gaping hole I see is at OC lol. still think Hackett should be demoted to QB coach. The roster is encouraging though without the obvious holes like last year. Just thinking about the final few roster spots. Some burner speed at WR would be nice, TE depth a little light like you said, deciding who the PS QB is (I’m ok with Martinez), and why do we continue to carry Max Mitchell on the 53? That’s where I’d be looking if anything. it’s always good to be looking. Takk McKinley was just a look, and now he will be seeing some starting snaps, deservingly so. Never know, sometimes there is gold in the mines.
Sorry that I misunderstood. Levao did look good in preseason games. I'm really surprised and disappointed that he wasn't kept. I'll be shocked if he makes it through waivers to the PS.
Would claim an OC off waivers if possible! I've accepted he's part of the Aaron Rodgers package and will be gone as soon as Rodgers is done here. Apparently Mitchell fared better in TC and preseason but he and maybe even Carter Warren have to be barely hanging on. Hope either can still develop further.
Mike White was a vested veteran, so he didn't go through waivers. He was released outright, which enabled him to sign with any other team. I may be mistaken, but don't teams could put in waiver claims until noon today.
I want to wait until after waiver wires and stuff before judging the final roster. I have a feeling at least one of McGregor or Watts won't be on the team for week one. One is probably going to be replaced by Reddick at some point. I assume the three UDFAs made the team so it'll be tougher for other teams to snag them. I assume they're going to put in a waiver claim on TE or WR. Both rooms could use an upgrade IMO. OL as well, but I doubt any legit OL get waived.
Interesting…what is the difference between “released” and “waived”? Does it have anything to do with the player’s years in the NFL, or is it a choice the team can make to “release” a guy or to “waive” a guy?
Vested players (Players with 4 or more years in the NFL, but am not sure if it's on an active roster or if a PS counts) are released and they are free to sign with any team on their roster or PS. Players who aren't vested are waived. They have to pass through waivers, and another team can sign them to their active roster. If the clear waivers, the team that held their rights can sign them to their PS or let them become FAs.
Sucks we lost CB Bartholomew to waivers. He would’ve been a future roster…which is why he didn’t last lol. that was my top PS priority along with Levao and Holmes.
Claimed a TE from the Bears Brendan Bates. I guess that makes 3 TEs after all, not 2. I havent seen the corresponding cut yet. But I did see it was Joe Douglas' first waiver claim since 2021- Quincy Williams.
Looks like a big boy, SEC TE known primarily for blocking. We plan on running more and had a need for that. I like it. Key landed on PS which is good.
Jets claimed Lewis Cine S from. Minnesota. 1st round pick out of Georgia in 2022. Horrific compound leg facture 4 games into his rookie year. He's apparently signing to the practice squad.
