The Yankees are constructed so poorly that Chisholm, a guy who really is just a mirror image batting wise (low average, decent power, average obp) of about 8 other Yankees but he immediately slots in as our best leadoff hitter. In a good situation, he should immediately man 2nd every game and 3rd becomes platooned. But this is the Yankees, and the 2nd basemen is Cashman guy #1 who he will get 80 percent or more of the games at 2nd unless he breaks into Hals house at night and takes a shit in his mouth. There is nothing more guaranteed in this life than within the first month of his time as a Yankee Jazz will play a minimum of 4 positions, which will then cause him to lose focus at the plate and bat about .200. by the end of September he will be an afterthought. The two bullpen arms they need before the trade deadline will determine if the season is dead or not, not Jazz Chisholm. The Yankees are systematically broken and it's a holding pattern for probably 2 years until they can get out of a few of their contracts and we have a new GM.
Mask is coming off of the Yankees franchise 2nd baseball. More loser mentality quotes from today: On playing third: “Yeah, I’m a second baseman. I play second,” - worst second basemen in baseball. On playing third in AAA: “It was just an opportunity to play in the big leagues faster at that moment. Just do everything possible to help the team in that moment.” - So did you do it for personal gain or to help the team? I cannot think of less of a Yankee, who has had significant playing time, than this guy in my 30 plus years of watching this team. Another error tonight.
The Yankees got basically what I asked for. An infielder/bat, a high end reliever and another mid reliever. That should make them contenders if Cole is healthy. I am onboard with moving Gil to the bullpen to give them another top arm out of the bullpen in the playoffs.
Boone is on drugs. Brings in DJ as a defensive replacement in the seventh inning and then has Stanton, who strikes out every other time up when he's actually playing well, to pinch hit for him in extras with no one on base so Cabrera can play first for the first time ever.
Yeah I think he exacerbates the biggest issue with the Yankees, that they can't move on anymore. Phrases like "he deserves to play out of it" after 100 plus games and the constant defending tells me he's letting his personal relationships blur his vision.
Immediately tonight, our 2nd baseman barely runs out of the box and a double turns into a single. Then gets caught out at home, either him or the 3rd base coach trying to make up for it. Now he's been benched. Again.
Wells has been a great story this year. He looked like he could swing a bat as soon as he came up and now we're seeing the results. The run game is so minimal on today's MLB, and most of the time the pitcher is the one that causes issues in that area, his weakness behind the plate is not that big of a deal. He may actually stick at catcher. He can be a big time player if he does.
How is Chisolm not leading off or hitting second? The Yanks should really go back to a traditional lineup to spark some offense. Chisolm-Volpe-Soto-Judge-Stanton-Wells-Verdugo is such better construction.
Maccagnan loved drafting defensive linemen because he didn't understand positional value, so he always thought he was getting a steal when those guys fell to him. Cashman is that but with signing injury-prone players.
