I wouldn't mind bringing Donnie back either, but Mangini fired him when he took over, so there's little chance that he'd give him a job in any capacity now.

DL and RB were the two weaknesses on this team. No question about it. I don't care how many times RobA says Leon is the Future.

We need some beef up front and we need a back who can carry the offense.

I'm surprised about Denny Marcin, from what I've seen I believe he is a very good D-Line coach. Can't blame him for the problems this year when you look at the talent he was working with. Most of his experience was in a 4 man front though, so maybe that has something to do with it. He also has a very abrasive personality which maybe rubbed the wrong way with Mangini. Who knows, but I doubt he'll be out of work long. Wouldn't be surprised to see him end up back with the Giants....

I was surprised Marcin wasn't fired when Mangini took over, he's worked almost exclusively with 4-3 DL's.

For once, I feel confident in every decision that is made. And seeing that the positions they coached were weak links,it is nice to see that they are already being addressed.

I can't believe you knock Leon, who has had much more success then Michael Turner thusfar, yet you support this unproven back, and furthermore want to give up one of our top three draft picks for him? He's a one dimensional runningback, who has benefitted from the offense he's in. Jesse Chatman averaged 6 yards per carry in that very same offense backing up LT, and he too has intriguing size at 5'8", 245 lbs. and a 4.5 40, yet he hasn't been on an active roster in two years.

When did I knock Leon? I just don't think he is fit to tote the ball 300 times in a season...

They said that about Brian Westbrook and Tiki Barber too. Tiki has averaged over 300 touches the past three seasons, and Westbrook had 300 touches, when Reid decided to finally hand it off, and look where they got. Warrick Dunn is similar.

Thats what I was thinkin, I guess the lack or respect Mangini was getting last year when he was hired, was tough to get anyone over here to help coach and maybe Mangini just kept Marcin for the year because he knew the players.

Don't ya think I already knew that buddy? I know what those guys have done, but I just don't see Leon doing those things. I hardly doubt I am the only one who believes this so relax.

I think what kept Marcin around is that he's supposedly a very fiery coach. We worked with Strahan I believe years before he became the Jets coach, and really just teaches pass rushers.

And in response to PennyandtheJets, I'm perfectly relaxed. I just can't believe people want to give up big time picks for a runner who hasn't proven anything, was a fifth round pick out of college, and is too compareable to many backs who have failed in the NFL.

there were two coaches at each of those spots

Jimmy Raye was also RB coach, and Mangini brought in Cox as a DL coach. There may not be replacement hires for these two. I think they are just trimming off some fat.

I sure wouldn't have a problem with that at all. Washington has given Curtis alot of credit this year on how he's been helping him. :)

Exactly, Marcin was hired during the running of the 4-3 that is what he is best suited for. The way Mangini coaches explains everything he isntalled the new 3-4 system and gave Marcin a year to see if he could do well with it. It is obvious he is not suited to coach the 3-4 and that the Jets need a new DL coach. No hard feelings Marcin will find work easy with a team that runs the 4-3 and the Jets will find someone suited for the 3-4.

The running back position isnt a big shock either Sam Gash was hired once again during the Herm era and Mangini gave him a shot to see what he could do without Curtis. Gash has failed and the Jets could use a more experienced coach there. With Curtis Martin retiring followwed by Gash getting fired, I am beginning to wonder. I am pretty sure Mangini offered Curtis the job, but now its up to whether or not Curtis wants to coach. There have been mixed signals but the Jets should find out within the next few days.

Selfishly, I'd like Curtis to be associated with this team forever. No better example of a player, of a man, or a role model than Curtis Martin.

But also selfishly, I think Curtis has a lot more to offer the outside world than the NFL. He already has while playing, but Curtis can change the lives of a lot of people simply for who he is and what he believes. The world would benefit more from a Curtis in the tough neighborhoods of NYC, Washington, Baltimore or Pittsburgh than if he spent 14 hours a day in Hempstead with the Jets.

I'm going to Canton when Curtis gets inducted, as much for the man he is as the player he is (I won't refer to his playing career in the past tense until he holds his retirement press conference -- that will be the day they take away Superman's cape).

Our Dline was terrible. They produced no passrush and couldn't help stop the run on a consstent basis.
