Too bad Curtis Martin don't want to coach. ( I thought I read that somewhere.)

if thats true then i guess we are trying to completely start from the bottom to the top in those areas. and if so then thats an indication on whats going to happen in the draft

Yeah, the positions they coached are interesting... Defensive Line and Running Backs. You could be right... getting ready for a big change. As far as Assistant Special Teams, the only visible ST's guy at TC on the field was Mike Westhoff. He's such a hands-on guy he overshadows anyone else around. I don't think losing his assistant will effect our ST's very much.

My guess is, they probably already have someone lined up for both positions. It won't be long before they announce the hiring of two new guys, IMO.

Our two biggest weaknesses were RB and DL. Interesting that those were the positions that they're going to replace the coaches. It seems Mangini holds everyone accountable and that's a nice change.

We hold people accountable? Oh wait... Herm is gone. Yeah, accountability, something we haven't seen in awhile!

Herm held people accountable (Hackett, Cottrell) -- just when the outcry was loud enough.

Mangini also has to hire a DB coach with Corwin Brown leaving for ND. I wonder if he is trying to open up a position for Rob Ryan should Ryan fail to get the Raiders HC job or if he gets booted by the new HC.

I'm going to beat rajensen to the punch and say "Oh, so it was throwing someone under the bus under Herm, but it's accountability under Mangini."

Although I'll spare you the incompetently-veiled analogy.

Herm didn't hold anyone accountable, he fired guys to make it look like he was taking action and to shift the blame on to them for his failings.

Herm couldn't even hold his specially-appointed "clock management advisor" Dick Curl accountable, much less any of the players. His last two TCs at Hofstra were glaring examples... Ty Law wandering around doing nothing, taking days off whenever he felt like it. Abraham and others picking and choosing their own hours and workouts. Guys walking on and off the field whenever they felt like it. Robertson cutting out early to jump in his $100,000 customized red HumVee to run over to the Netherlands in order to be first on line for the fried chicken and mashed potatoes.

This will be the era which will be remembered as the time when the inmates ran the asylum.

Section 227, you didn't catch my tongue in cheek. Another piece of evidence for your file: McGlockton, Chester.

    Martin

I saw Martin during a press conference shown on SNY clearly say that he would be interested in a position (unspecified) with the Jets.

If no one picks him up as a DC, I'd love this. He was Baltimore's DB coach before he came to us, after all.

My guess is we'll see a guy at running backs who has worked in the Denver/San Diego systems. I'm going to be very surprised if RBBC is not the way the Jets go in the future based on last year and what New England and Denver do.

Defensive line was actually the weakest group on the Jets as a whole last year. Even in the last 8 games when everything tightened up on D the Jets still got pushed around up front when the other team was in the mood to push.

You can make a pretty strong argument for all 3 guys needing to be replaced or shifted based on their play last year. Ellis probably needs to go to the weak side, D-Rob to either strong side end or gone and KVO retired.
