He tore his Achilles which isn’t an age-related injury. If he can shake off the rust fairly quickly then I see no reason why he can’t be an effective starting quarterback. Even allowing for some age-related decline I still think he’s the best qb in the division
So in other words, eat the money and then dish out even more of it to bring in another 3rd stringer? They have to pay someone to be 3rd, why not ride it out and just let the contract expire? It’s not as if he’s first one up in case of another Rodgers injury
At this point in his career, he is not better than Allen. Tua starts out well but when playing in bad/cold weather he gets exposed. Also, the fins last year got their wins against bad teams. They had trouble against good teams. If Rodgers stays healthy then he is the 2nd best QB in the division.
The Mayo Clinic disagrees. www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/achilles-tendon-rupture/symptoms-causes/syc-20353234#:~:text=Risk%20factors,rupture%20is%2030%20to%2040.
Who knows. But I do agree: at 40 coming off Achilles tear it would be pretty silly to assume he will play every game like in the past. At this point hope for the best, expect the worst.
It also depends on how well the Jets OL improves. On paper they got better this offseason, but we all know that means nothing if they can't prove it on the field.
As of right now we can assume Carter Warren is blocking Rodgers' blind side for at least 4 games and probably more. Need to do more there.
