Yep.. Somehow Woody would have leanred nothing from all this failure and repeats the same losing formula in hiring the leadership position.

Look guys, I am not going to sugar coat it: this was a massive, massive fuck up by JD. This is "the pick swap" of 2023 all over again. Even considering the fact we could have had him for much less a year ago, 2 year 34 mil guaranteed (3d year in essence team option) for a 25 year old double digit sack guy in his prime, who is top 5 in NFL in pressures, is not a prohibitive amount. We could have easily had him for this amount, but JD simply decided to move on, because they drafted McD. Guess who also drafted an Edge in the 1st round last year? Yes, Philly did draft Nolan Smith. They had decent pass rush last year. But they got Huff to be an UPGRADE to what they have. Yes, Howie Roseman, a very successful GM, from whom JD worked for before coming here, wanted Huff and benefitted from JD's incompetence.

The pick swap of 2023 along with other fuck-ups caused us Broderick Jones, and eventually for our OL to collapse, and as a continuation of that and further "the pick swap 2024" stupidity by JD to lose Huff. How will the dominos continue to fall?

In Douglas's brain, the season was not lost because that would mean he was wrong about his team, and his brain, he's never wrong.

How could Douglas give that money to Huff after panic-drafting McDonald? He has to protect the fairy tale that McDonald was the guy.

Philly was in the same exact spot though, maybe even deeper. Two good Edges in Reddick and Sweat. On top of it a 1st round pick in Smith. Brandon Graham. And yet they signed Huff to improve. The difference between a teacher (Roseman) and a bad student (JD).

Maybe the staff didn’t feel Huff could hack it as a full time DE, they’ve shown it by his snap count. To pay That type of money when the coaches don’t feel he’d be as effective besides being a situational pass rusher would be crazy especially with the holes on the roster. JJ plays all downs, Will they hope can fill in Huff’s spot, and there’s still good depth along the DL.

Isn’t that a lot of money for a situational player though?

It is for a situational player, but Huff made it abundantly clear that he sees himself as an every down player and that he wasn't going to sign to be a part-time, situational rusher. We'll see if that's what happens, if it was BS because he just didn't want to stay with the Jets, or if Philly tries him as that, and then reverts him to a situational pass rusher.

What's a full time DE on this team? None of these guys get starter reps. That's why I think the DE position is a conveyer belt to Free Agency on this team.

Until, you know, everybody gets fired and shit.

I believe JJ gets “full time” reps…but these guys rotate on all teams…Huff really didn’t play on early downs here.

Yep. JJ and Q both got 2/3 of the defensive snaps in 2023... that's starter reps here (and many places actually). Very few Crosbys/ Hutchinsons out there playing 90%, but many teams play their "star" DL around 75%- 80% (Nick Bosa, Aaron Donald, Christian Wilkins, B. Burns, etc.) which is still 6-8 snaps per game more than Jets do

And that's why he left. He was capable of playing on early downs. This Jets regime can't be gone quickly enough for me.

I agree that if they don't feel he can be a "full time" Edge that it would be crazy to pay him that much. But I think they're wrong that he can't be a "full-time" player.

Welp nobodies happy it seems. A lot of posts from eagles fans think it's a risk giving a guy who grades poorly in the run that much money.

I'm not a football wiz, but the way he goes after the QB does seem to leave a lot of running room open. Most of his sacks was using his speed to get around the tackle.
