    Aaron lasted 4 snaps

Tyrod will last 3 snaps in preseason.

Welp, we've got our backup. I wanted Brissett or Minshew but those guys want an opportunity to start. Decent signing.

At least when he plays, he plays decent. But we will need a 3d QB this year.

JD is bargain shopping: Tyrod probably cost a lot less than these guys and still in spite of old age hasn't jumped off a cliff.

Like I been trying to pound into people's heads since Rodgers went down last year....there is a glass ceiling in regards to how good of a QB Rodgers is going to sign off on and allow to sit behind him in his twighlight year/s. Woody can talk tough in generalized terms all he wants, but at the end of the day we all knew he was too much of a pussy to back track and put his foot down there.

A majority of the guys Jets fans have been speculating they wanted fell in above that glass ceiling. Some of those guys will go on to sign deals that will end up looking more attractive to us then this one will. But Tyrod didn't, so he gets the nod here

Decent backup. Plays a little “scared” though.

He 100% will see time on the field as he has that Ryan Fitzpatrick curse in him where the starting QB always ends up giving him an opportunity to start

A lot better option than the trash we had at QB last season, I'm good with this.

That sounds awfully similar to the curse known as the NY Jets QB.

Tyrod is at least serviceable and plays with more poise than wonder boy Wilson ever showed in several years here.

I want to see the financials. They better have not paid him more than $5M/year I'm thinking.

Tyrod is better than: Wilson, Semien, Boyle and the 4th guy who never played a snap. Look, we're bottomfeeders trying to lift ourselves up to mediocre so, a signing like this isn't the worst thing. That would be keeping Wilson on the roster because no one wants to take him off your hands. If Tyrod plays, the upside is that the Jets are in for another losing season which means: Adios Douglas and hopefully Saleh. Downside: Woody gets to fuck up the next crucial hire as he's done for almost his entire tenure as Owner of the NYJ's.

This is where I'm at. If the $$ is right then I'm O.K. with Taylor.

Game manager. Journeyman QB. Beat the fuck up.

Yes, no threat to our new GM Aaron Rogers.

I still think he is a good choice.

Doesn’t do anything to win a SB. If Rodgers gets hurt jets are screwed no matter the backup. Spent $9m on him, would have been better off with that money going oline or WR, drafted a rookie backup because who cares if Rodgers gets hurt it is over.

A quality backup, this is what we all wanted.

Good signing IMO. I do think they'll draft a developmental guy now on Day 3 though. Tyrod is a solid backup when he's healthy but he is injury prone, which isn't the worst thing as a back up because honestly if he has to start more than 3-4 games, the season is probably toast anyway.

Jordan Travis or Carter Bradley in the 5th/6th round anyone??

Good signing. I really wanted Brissett but he now will probably be able to compete for a starting job with a rookie QB so tougher sell to him (and other guys like for starting gigs) to be strictly a backup. Taylor might be the best of the QBs available who are not probably seeking opportunities to start first.
Experienced QB who usually plays decently when called upon. He looked good on a not so good Giants team last year. Definitely a higher end backup QB in the league. Curious what the money is. Brissett signed for $8mil, Darnold signed for $10mil. He made 5.5mil/yr last season so hoping for right around there.
Injuries are a concern though so a #3 QB is needed. If they can get a good developmental prospect, great. If not, they need a better-than-practice-squad-caliber #3.

The wording surrounding his signing has been very similar to Simpson's. "...up to 18M...", which makes me think it's another incentive-laden deal.

I would expect his base to be similar to what you said, in that 5.5-6.5M range which is good value for a backup QB IMO.

    Here's Jason from OTC's opinion:
"Each of his last three contracts have averaged $5.5M per year so Id bet it is safe to say the base value on this is $11M with $6M in incentives"

Probably a typo on his part and meant either 12M base with 6M incentives or 11M base with 7 in incentives, either way, still good value IMO.
