The Athletic report threw a bombshell. Twitter is boiling. Jets Official Twitter account didn't celebrate Saleh's birthday yesterday. Strong voiced Jets players didn't come to Saleh's rescue on Twitter yet.

Can this be the end of Saleh and potentially Joe D?

My main worry here is that Douglas is completely escaping scrutiny after being invisible all season. I think he's protecting himself and trying to buy another chance at his own HC to extend his tenure.

I would rather endure another disaster season than bring either one back in 2025.

Although the more of this stuff happens, the more I think there will be another WATCH ME darkness retreat and maybe a "surprise" retirement.

Firing Saleh requires a replacement who's potential headline making appeal could/would trump the current fanboy need Woody has to cater first to whatever ARod wants. And by every account Aaron wants his other biggest fanboy here.

There is realistically only one of those types out there and available.

JD, Saleh, Hackett, are all still here because that's what Rodgers wants. All of their jobs now depend on him which gives him total control of the FO. Not to mention Woody's fanboyism.

Part of the total house clean includes Rodgers. Especially considering he hamstrings our cap in 2025, and wont be cutable by then without a 50 million dead cap. If we continue this course he is going to be running our FO for the next two seasons. Likely even making the selections of our next regime, while our best rookie contracts expire.

I cant stress enough how much we need to pivot away from Aaron right now. Otherwise he'll leave us in the backwater for years.

There are ways to begin an exciting and promising new start this season and its so frustrating watching us ride this insanity train.

If Saleh gets fired now, and the upcoming season goes badly, Douglas will have signed his death warrant in the NFL. No team will hire him for any position. Backstabbers go the way of Mike Maccagnan: giving speeches to local middle schools for 20 bucks an hour.

to me, that reset chance would have been Jim Harbaugh…a proven winner in both the NFL and College…hiring him would most likely have appeased the fanbase and would have allowed a total reset, including the QB position

Now that that ship has sailed, I don’t see any realistic play that could be made…surely a Belichick or Carroll may be enough cred to allow it, but neither guy would come here, and honestly at over 70 years old, neither would be good long term plays anyway

Might as well just keep them both and run it back only to miss the playoffs at 8-9 and clear complete house.

Douglas gets a couple more years if he gets another head coach hire which is completely ass backwards.

I don't think a Carroll hiring would carry the same consideration weight as a Bill one. At least while keeping in mind it wouldn't be football or team building based logic fueling a Woody decision to pull the plug on the "It's what Aaron wants" priority ruling the day there.

It doesn't even need to be a good long term play either. We are literally at rock bottom right now with a league worst team culture and a historically bad Hackett at the helm of an offense in today's offensive driven league. Worse case scenario you can only fail upwards from this point with either of those guys. Even in the event we are just having to turn around reboot all over again from a better left over state in 2-3 years (although Carroll and his energy could probably coach to 80 lol)

Yeah…we are in a hole for sure, but man it’s hard to fathom just how badly these AR recommendations turned out…

I hated Hackett from Day 1, like we don’t learn that hiring coaches who were fired for being TERRIBLE right away is ALWAYS a BAD idea (see Kotite, Gase). he was exactly every bit as awful as most of us expected him to be. Fact is he was NEVER much good…it was AR changing his fucking plays that made him successful, and as soon as he left that nest he was exposed for all to see…Denver didn’t even let him finish the season that’s how god awful he was…but no worries…here are the Jets to rush to hire him. I understand that decision was driven by the AR recruiting mindset, but we should have been smarter than that. But sure, asking Woody to do the smart thing is like pissing into the wind…will NEVER work.

Cobb we all knew was several years past retirement age, so again not a good hire, but hey as a WR5 or WR6 for small dollars wasn’t a huge issue

Lazard I thought would at least be decent, and maybe with AR he would have been, but hard to imagine when we signed him that he would be THIS bad

And guess what, how much of a chance do we all think there is that we go after Baktiari (or however you spell his name) to help solve our OL issue, and how long before he gets hurt yet again? I can already see this shitshow coming…

    We wouldn't be so lucky.

I don't care about Saleh- he just sucks, we all know he sucks.

Joe Douglas is trying his hardest for Saleh to get all the negative attention so he can slither his way to another year employed hoping for the AR bailout, so he can get an extension.

Carroll wouldn’t be a bad hire if you pretty much make him the VP of Football Operations as well as head coach and let him build the football culture top down and just hire a GM to pick the players. Then make sure he has the head coach in waiting as a coordinator.

He’s a culture guy but the Jets would never let him establish that here without meddling or strapping him to a shitty GM he didn’t want to work with.

Belichick doesn’t make much sense going anywhere but a team ready to compete. He’s an X’s and O’s tactician at the root of it and his grumpy discipline style obviously works but only over time and after winning. He also wouldn’t mind screwing us at all.

I never thought about it but a Pete Carrol move at HC and the release of the OC staff could be a lot of fun for the next 2 years. There is plenty of negative press brewing around RS. Some deserved, some due to the shit he was dealt with, and magnified by his paranoia to avoid bad press. JD mean time, seems to be keeping a very, low profile at this point.

This thing will definitely make for a toxic locker room in 2024 and when the wheels fall off, I think Saleh will get the axe late in the season.

Assuming they run it back at this point.

Yes except in the latest one she actually mentions she tried to contact the team to confirm anything learned from her dozens of anonymous sources.

    Progress.
