The Jets are nuts if Uzomah and Lawson are on the roster next year.

I think they are the obvious ones. I think you have to cut Mosley. See if he wants to come back on a more team friendly deal or go get a mercenary run stopping ILB. They probably won’t be as good as Mosley but we have to give a little on defense to fix the line and you simply can’t have $28 million invested into two ILB’s.

Laken Tomlinson is looking tempting too

I would find a way to ditch:

    Tomlinson
    Lazard
    CJ Uzomah
    JFM

    mosley saves 11 mil
    Uzo saves 5 mil
    trading JFM saves 7 mil
trading zach saves 5.5 mil (potentially, could be as low as 1mil)

Lawson is in his final year and a FA after this season. He doesn't need to be cut

I would re-sign him for the sole purpose of gaining the satisfaction of cutting him.

tomlinson is a tough call. he hasn't been as good as expected when we signed him but he hasn't missed a game in 6 years and could do much better if there was some consistency on the line.
cutting would save 8mil but we'd have to replace him, I think were better off extending him a couple of years and lowering his hit. he's only almost 32 so adding 2 years he would be 35 by the end of the contract and we can lower the cap hit by doing that. his value has gone down due to age/performance.

One course would be to find a new home for our 66 million dollar QB. If we wanted to move him it would need to be this year. He hits the cap for 50 million in 2025, which makes that season look like a backwater.

Agreed. That's why it is "tempting" and not a definite move for me

I don't think it's a good idea to cut the 1 player who's been healthy on our o-line. tomlinsons heath track record is phenomenal and as they say the bets ability is availability. in his 9 year career he's never missed a game due to injury. I don't think cutting him will help us on the o-line. I think a healthy tippman and AVT on the inside with him and better help at OTs is a better play.

Seems like the only worthwhile moves would be to cut Mosley, Tomlinson, and Uzomah.

Just clearing those 3 would get the Jets to about 39M. That isn't a ton of space, but it's enough to make a few moves on the offensive side of the ball in FA.

Only other lever would be to restructure JFM but then you're just kicking the can down the road which doesn't sound very appealing considering what Rodgers' contract is going to count towards our cap over the next few years.

those work, but to me, guys like Mosley and Tomlinson are great candidates to restructure, reduce pay, whatever…I’d like to be able to keep them, Mosley because he’s been good and Tomlinson mostly because while he’s been meh, we have SO many other needs on OL that adding one more opening is just such a tipping point to me.

Of course, the player has to want to play ball, but if we could keep them on lower deals that would be my preference. Lawson is just gone already…they don’t even dress him anymore. Uzumah needs to go. Lazard can go. Both of those guys give us more penalties and drops than catches.

pretty much. Uzo is an easy cut. hasn't been producing and saves 6 mil and we already have his replacement in ruckert.
mosley is going to suck to lose but we still have quincy and it saves us 11 mil in 2024 and 6 mil in 2025 for a total savings of 17 mil over 2 years.
trading JFM saves us 7 mil but should only be done if we resign huff. I have a feeling he walks and nets us a comp 3rd
tomlinson I wouldn't cut. the 8 mil saved isn't worth it since you need a replacement and he's the only lineman we had who doesn't get hurt.
the rodgers cap hits later on will coincide with having a rookie or low paid QB to balance it out.
the offense needs likely 2 new starting OTs and probably drafting one of them top 10.
we also need a WR, it's going to be a good market. tea higgins would be nice but it's likely we get someone like evans who we tried to trade for already

Yah…between all his injuries, then his social media “I AM AN LT” bullshit, followed by his pretty shitty play…I won’t be shedding any tears watching him go steal some other team’s money

He should change his fucking post to “I AM A SHITTY LT”

Doesn't matter if he's healthy or not. He's a a pretty bad pass protector and a terrible run blocker--I don't think I've seen him open a lane since he got here. He isn't helping anything.

he hasn't lived up to his contract but he hasn't been as bad as people think. he's been a low end starter still. it's hard to play well for anyone on an o-line when it's constant turmoil
