I suspect he was just saying all the coming back stuff to keep the teams spirits up. But they still shit the bed
Do you understand if rodgers didn’t get hurt your not even bringing up any of your points and are probably 7-4 or 6-3 with all of his additions and the same coordinator the defense can easily replace every player you mentioned on defense and if they didn’t they would still be a good team with Aaron playing and a AVERAGE defense . (And CJ isn’t going anywhere)
but Rodgers got hurt. 40 year olds get hurt a lot. In fact it’s the 2nd season in a row he was injured, and he will probably have an injury next season too, at age 41 so speculating what the record might be with Rodgers of 10 years ago is moot and 6-3 ain’t even that good
brady was healthier in his 40s then he was in his 20s and played till 45. every player is different. favre had one of his bets years at 40. every player is different. peters started at OT this week at 41 years old. Rodgers doesn't have lingering or compounded injury issues. they were freak injuries separate from each other. a broken thumb he played through and didn't miss a game and an achillies that cost him the season. this type of Achilles repair isn't a risk of reinjury really from everything i've heard.
Rodgers of 10 years ago? Rodgers with the broken thumb season in 2022 - this team is that record. I hate this take - what do you want them to do, run is back with Zach! DRAFT the 3RD or 4TH ranked QB in the draft
I want them to build a team like Philly. Balanced, focused and kick ass with a bright future. I don’t think dreaming that an injured 40 year old with other interests as our only hope is a good plan
You’re right. Injury rate after 3 months is 1-5%. Dude will be fully healthy next year. He also isn’t a qb that relies on his legs as part of his game. His two mvp seasons he had less than 150 rushing yards. Last year he was less than 100. His internal clock + pocket presence will be more than enough, that doesn’t just go poof. If Rodgers is even just equal or more than the corpse of Peyton when he won his superbowl with Denver we are cooking next year.
rodgers just needs to be mobile enough to slide in the pocket. his arm and brain is what he needs to be successful. he's one of the most intelligent Qbs football wise ever and has the arm to match it. Just his ability to call protections and audibles and read a defense is a huge boost to what we have currently.
I get the feeling that the backtracking today is the first step in him not ever returning to the team. He's probably now gotten a look at what a pathetic clown-show this organization is and is probably thinking to himself why he got himself in this mess.
These are extreme outliers. They do not indicate any sort of trend. Nobody is saying there aren't guys who play well in their 40s, just that it's exceedingly rare and we shouldn't bank on it happening.
Not sure why many act like next year will just be this "mulligan" year for Rodgers, Saleh, Douglas, and Hackett (he needs to be gone already). Sure they'll probably get one final shot at it but Woody is a moron (obviously). The Jets front office (Joe Douglas especially) needs to rebuild this roster in the offseason with Offensive Line being the overwhelming priority. The Jets need some real road graders upfront. Becton is charmin soft. He needs to be replaced. Same with others. But let's not act like the Jets are going to be really good next year by just adding Rodgers and a few other returning pieces. No, not even close. The AFC is loaded. The Jets need to have an EXCEPTIONAL offseason and get some real pieces via free agency and in the draft. Like stockpile O lineman and a stud WR in the 2nd or 3rd round. The Jets need to upgrade their roster significantly before next season.
Although he doesn't rack up a lot yardage, he makes a lot of plays outside the pocket. His legs are absolutely a large part of his game. An immobile Aaron Rogers is not the Aaron Rogers we expect to see.
They tried that - they drafted Zach wilson and it failed. the eagles have a offensive minded coach, drafted Jalen Hurtz in the 2nd round and didn’t become who he is until his 3rd year have you ever waited 3 years for a QB to develop? were you patient with Geno Smith? Sam Darnold or Zach?
Rodgers has been consistent on this point. He wants to come back at some point this year, depending on his rehab and recovery and if they Jets are in it. Nothing has changed. He never said he was coming back on Christmas no matter what. He always maintained that he has to be ready to play and the Jets have to be in it. Never even said the date, just that at some point this season if the Jets are in it. He literally repeated exactly what he was saying all this time today.
they drafted Zach Wilson and failed, they traded for Aaron Rodgers and failed. How many mulligans are we gonna give them To answer your question I thought they shoulda kept Darnold another year and drafted a different position but Joe Douglas was the one who thought we needed Zach Wilson. But it doesn’t even matter what I think, I’m just a guy, he’s the GM. He’s a failure. And 41 year old Aaron Rodgers is gonna make it through 17 games next year and save his job? That’s our plan. Pack it in now
it is rare but rodgers is the type that usually does it. HOF QB who's job is largely mental and isn't hurt by diminishing physical ability and hasn't had lingering issues with injuries.
it happens sometimes. it's rare but it happens. happened to us with vinny T as well. I didn't hear people blaming everyone and theirs moms for it back then
