You know in Little League when the coach's kid can't play but keeps getting to pitch and bat 3rd? That's what's happening here except this is the NFL. Meanwhile the other 52 guys on the team, some better than others (cough cough Uzomah), are busting their asses off with a ball and chain around their ankles. I don't know whether it's Douglas, Saleh, Hackett, Woody, or Rodgers who's responsible for not bringing in another QB when Rodgers went down (didn't even have to start the new guy Week 2, could have given Zach a chance before benching him), and I also don't know who's responsible for keeping the one guy in Siemian who can start on the practice squad. But whoever it is is destroying the Jets season, and the locker room is probably going to go too soon if it hasn't already.
Just shows what a great job Ulbrich has done keeping this together and keeping this defense playing at a high level all season while Saleh and the rest of these morons continue to drive this season into the ditch. But, the dam will eventually have to break. I still maintain, though, that the defense should go on strike.
It's pretty clear to me at this point that JD is the problem. No one else makes as much logical sense. Wilson was the most important draft pick of JD's tenure. It makes sense he'd be extremely hesitant to admit he fucked up his most important pick. JD is hoping a light goes off in Wilson's head and he turns it around, despite all the evidence that shows how unlikely that is. JD is also the only person who could've brought in a Wilson replacement and didn't. JD is also notoriously stingy in FA, often to a fault. No one else makes nearly as much sense as for who to blame for Wilson still inexplicably starting.
If Ulbrich really is the one behind the defense, then I agree. But how can we know if he is? (I know Ulbrich calls the plays, but there's more that does into a defense than play-calling.)
I agree and don’t think Zach is any good. But I also don’t think this one was on him as much as it was on undisciplined penalties, and horrible play calling. (Horrible play calling could also be taming Zach from 10 ints a game). this was supposed to be the “winnable “ stretch, especially these last 2. Even if the jets were to somehow get it together enough on offense, what could we afford? 2 more loses most for a shot at the playoffs? Not happening now
Penalties are just as big a problem. Zach sucks no argument from me. Last night they had some big plays including a TD wiped out because of penalties.
We also lost one because Zach was more concerned about “protecting himself” than trying to actually score. The offense has plenty of problems but it all comes back to Zach Wilson. Every other issue can be improved on or mitigated to some extent with competent QB play.
This was my thinking at the beginning (that we was just a defensive No-gains), but the more decisions we see Saleh make makes me question that theory.
It’s not at all and makes them have to play harder and even more time on the field because we have an offense that goes 3 and out every series lol. Imagine if we actually had an avg Offense how much better and rested they would be on D
are you talking about his run? that's unfair. He dove for the pylon head first. That's the opposite of protecting himself. your other point is valid, if we had a better QB its possible the whole offense would look better, I wont argue that. I'd love to see if you are correct on that
The team follows the attitude of the QB. Zach looks terrified and completely lost right from the start. If the QB is unsure and tense the whole team will be. The kid is an unmitigated disaster out there and it’s well past time to stop coddling him. Since it’s clear we’re stuck with this crap at QB (thanks JD) I think the Coaches need to pivot and start applying some real tough love to Zach. Start humiliating him the way he has been humiliating this franchise.
Win or lose woody is banking millions. I wonder if the other owners make fun of him at cocktail parties or just give him a swirlie in the mens room.
Looking back on the wins we do have, and how they were won, we really shouldn’t be surprised. It was mostly with pixie dust. the jets do some weird shit. They play up to harder opponents, and then way over shoot the play down to what we would think are lesser opponents.
Right But we’re NOT surprised…there have been many (most?) people on here talking about it…how we were only winning due to freak occurrences like the D getting 4 turnovers against Philly, or a PR TD against Buffalo, or a total complete meltdown by the Giants in a game they really should have won. We knew it was not sustainable. So much so, in fact, that someone started a thread about how it was weird to see so much complaining when we were winning. But it’s funny…there aren’t any professional GM or NFL HCs on this board, right? But there IS some level of wisdom in this population…how many times would we have been better off drafting the board consensus? More than a few I’d bet. So yeah, many on this board saw it…and called it out. So I’m sure that as an NFL GM and an NFL HC, I would think both JD and Saleh see it. The real question is why. Why did JD NOT get a better backup QB than Boyle going into training camp, and even more pointedly after AR went down? Why does Saleh continue to play Zach after 31 games when it’s clear he is not an NFL quality QB? Is it afraid to anger Rodgers? Is it a Woody mandate? Like, they HAVE to see it, right? Occums Razor would say the simplest answer is most likely the right answer…so maybe the really DO believe this is the best option. But it’s hard to believe that when it’s pretty clear with this team that this just does not work…
\ How long until the defense calls it on the O? Some of the quotes last night makes it sound like we are right on the verge
Yeah the only other QB better on the roster is currently healing his Achilles. Not interested in seeing Siemien who’s been on the PS or Boyle. Only a galaxy brain like Aaron can work with Hackett. The rest isn’t going to help Lazard catch a pass, or stop dumb penalties.
