the 1st 3 games zach was rough. the last 5 he's been somewhat ok. he's still not good but it's improved. adding players after the season starts is rarely easy. he also has to look at 2024. Gms look ahead no just the now. there is opportunity cost involved in getting something now that hurts the future. we are short on cap room next year.. have some players we should resign. rodgers is going to be the QB. we are geared up for 1 more run. is it worth it to try and trade for a player that could cost you a huff and good rookie for next year to grind out an extra win or 2 now? those are things GMs have to worry about that fans don't account for. and teams aren't lining up to trade away starting caliber QBs it takes 2 to tango. rumors were we tried to land evans and adams at the deadline but teams didn't want to. you don't know what calls he made. anyone brought in has to be a locker room fit. wentz was never going to be an option because of that. fans will be like but ryan and tebow and kaepernick. but there are reasons those players are unemployed. it's not like there is a magical well of options. It logically makes more sense to hoard resources (picks and cap room) for next year when rodgers is back then it is to try and load up now and leverage next year.

saleh decides who's on the field. JD makes the roster decisions. JD has said though he works with his coaches to give them what they want as best he can. Breece hall was actually a MLF pick. MLF really wanted him, JD made the trade up to land him. JJ was a saleh pick. but JD didn't want to burn a 4th or 10th on him. he was able to trade up and grab him. sometimes you can pull it off, others times you can't.
but with something like simian if saleh wanted to start him JD would activate him and drop boyle down to the PS for sure.

he can decide on simian if he wanted to. JD would bring him up and drop boyle to the PS if saleh wanted to. coaches and GMs work together. hackett likely has a say in it too

This whole Aaron Rodgers boondoggle is starting to look like a creative and elaborate scheme to fleece the hell out of Jet fans. Now if only the Jets offense can be a fraction as creative as the NFL script writers.

Three QBs who shouldn't be anywhere near an NFL roster and people still think it's just accidental or a result of dumb luck. No wonder Jet fans keep getting taken for a ride.

He has no competition, really, nor is he coming back this year if the team misses the playoffs. So, no, I don’t think bringing in a better back up would be nothing but beneficial to all.

Zach Wilson has consistently been the absolute worst or among the absolute worst at every measurable statistic used to rank a QB. Gased and Confused will give a million dipsy doodle reasons why stats don’t matter but the fact remains Zach is and always has been at the bottom of every measurable statistic. Any improvement he’s made has been going from absolutely putrid to just really bad. He’s not good at anything. If we didn’t have Zach on the roster and Siemian was playing like Zach has been we’d have been on the phone all across the league and he’d be benched. The only reason Zach is still starting is because JD does not want to face the facts staring him right in the face.

Why? He wouldn’t be starting either. Only difference is the locker room would be louder

Valid point, and regardless of how bad he plays, it will still be light years better than Zach, but that being said, you gotta believe, any of the current options on the table for the Jets, Rodgers on his worst day, could shine over.

You mean, "I troll for Zach", at some point, you have to call it what it is.

I can't answer the question as to who is insisting that he continue to start now. But it started with what it usually starts with when this team goes off the rails: Woody meddling.

Douglas was following a very clear plan based on youth and building through drafts. Then Wilson showed he wasn't it and the plan went haywire. Suddenly we're all in to win this year.

If that was ALL it was, I'd believe that Douglas felt some pressure and pulled the plug on the plan. The entire show of flying out to California with the whole management team and the dog and pony show while waiting for Rodgers to decide whether or not to retire, and then waiting for the trade to be made - that's Woody all the way. Keeping the Jets in the news, getting a big name quarterback in here, that's all Woody.

Douglas has been careful, won't allow himself to get ripped off, very shrewd and close to the vest, suddenly he's blowing up his own plan and negotiating on the Pat McAfee show? No.

Now they are in a downward spiral after the plan is gone, the new plan to go for it this year is in shambles, and I have no idea where it went from there.

It's definitely not Saleh so it's either Woody (my odds on bet) or Douglas (less likely imo).

    Shit. Show.

If Dobbs led that comeback for us, and continued to win, he'd have the adoration that Rodgers wants. And when Rodgers returned he'd have to compete with it. That's like poison to divas. Sure he'd still start, but it wouldn't be ideal for him. The mistake fans mistake is to believe Rodgers actually cares about the team more than himself.

Why do you think Tim Boyle is here? For that matter why do you think Hackett and Lazard are here? Were not going to just stop doing whatever Rodgers wants until next year plays out.

I think Aaron Rogers likes Zach for some reason. I think that's why he came here, and why he went to training camp, and why he is hanging around now and why he will be here next year. For whatever reason, he wants to pass the torch to Zach Wilson instead of Jordan Love, who he has resented from the start.

That's why JD, Saleh, Hacket, Zach, Lazard, and Cobb all have perfect job security. Woody has been sure that his recipe of great defense + magic QB savior is going to get him a championship and give him his spot in history that he hasn't been able to buy thus far.

I think it's more to keep the team motivated than to pull a fast one on the fans.

Oh, it's gotta be Woody the Rube. The Jets is a toy that collects compound interest sitting there doing nothing so it hardly matters if this team never wins another game. As in ever. He wants them to win because who wouldn't want a billion dollar toy to look all jazzy and shit? He just thinks hey, let me throw my stupid weight around so I can pound tables and look important and business minded about my investment that again makes money just sitting there. His "I mean business!" crap yields nothing but know-nothing disastrous results. He is leaning on Douglas IMO, but Douglas is also pin-wheeling because Zach Wilson is on him at the end of the day. If Wilson improves even moderately, he looks like a genius. I wish he would just admit behind closed doors that he made a grievous reach and they need to do something other than what they're doing. I don't know what that is, but that's not for me to know.

ETA: I forgot all about the Woody Johnson/Zach Wilson/Jets Blue Connection. So there you have it, look no further.

Sadly I kind of agree. I'm looking forward to seeing Aaron Rodgers next year for sure but I think if the Jets were going to pull off a miracle and win big with the old vet having one last ride type of season this was probably the year it was going to happen. Its hard for any player to miss a whole year and come back firing on all cylinders let alone a 40 year old.

    Last 5 games:

    3 tds
    9 turnovers (8 fumbles)
3 of 5 games with no td's at all
The only saving grace is the Jets won 3 of those games, but one was the Giants game which they didn't deserve to win.

For sure. What I am getting at, and should have stated plainly -- I put the blame for all these messes squarely on Woody Johnson and Aaron Rogers. To me, pointing fingers at JD, Saleh, Hacket, Zach, the O-line, Lazard.....anybody else, is a waste of time. Woody wants Aaron to have whatever he wants, and everybody else is handcuffed to that.
