Adam Schefter on the NFL Network just talked about the Dolphin's coaching vacancy. He mentioned 3 candidates. 1. Jim Mora Jr. 2. Brian Schottenheimer 3. Marty Schottenheimer. He didn't say anything about the leading candidate, but he also said that they will probably bring in more guys than that. He said Cam Cameron was gonna be one of their finalists but since he's off the market, they will interview even more people. This thing is far from over...
I could not find any reference to the Glazer report today. The last Glazer update on 1/14 does not make this clear about Schottenheimer.
According to the Miami Herald, Schotty is getting a second interview. http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/football/16460713.htm
That article is from yesterday's paper. We all saw it yesterday which is when we all started to get a bit nervous. This "report" by Glazer was made today.
I don't think I necessarily believe a lot that Glazer says. That said, Huizenga did say he wanted a coach in place by Tuesday or Wednesday and Mora is the only one that will likely meet that timeframe given he is having his second interview today. Anybody know how Huizenga and Arthur Blank get along? That'd be an interesting variable.
Actually the Glazer report was made during the FOX pre-game yesterday. Still after the paper came out though...
Glazer is probably the best guy in the business when it comes down to situations like this. Mortensen and Pasquarelli are the one I don't believe because of the false reports they have had more than a few times. Glazer is pretty reliable and is the best at what he does.
I thought yesterday he said that Mora was the front-runner and then today there was another report that whoever started this thread heard. Because he said yesterday that Schott was still in it and this thread says hes not
I don't know whether it's true or not, but I do know Schottenheimer's second interview would have been tomorrow not today.
An article in today's online version of the Miami Herald still has Mora, Gailey, and B. Schott in the mix, now possibly adding M. Schott and Cameron. http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/16462269.htm A blogger at the Herald says the same thing: http://blogs.herald.com/random_evidence/2007/01/its_looking_lik.html
Here is another tidbit poving this post is a false statement. January 15, 2007 9:34 AM ET Dolphins: Mora, Gailey, Schottenheimer make cut The Dolphins have pared down their coaching search, interviewing both Jim Mora Jr. and Chan Gailey for a second time over the weekend. According to the Miami Herald, the team will talk to Brian Schottenheimer again this week and could renew their interest in Cam Cameron as well. http://www.fanball.com/football/newsbreakers.cfm Youth
Glazers report was made yesterday during the FOX Pre-game show and all he said was that Huizengas' private jet would be in Atlanta today (that being Sunday) to pick up Mora and he would be the first finalist to have his second interview. He never said that he was the leading candidate or that Brian was out of the running.
Wayne Huizenga's private airplane visited Long Island last week for a short interview with Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer regarding the Dolphins' vacant head coaching job. The plane will be here again next week, but whether it - or Schottenheimer - returns after that will depend on the second interview... http://www.newsday.com/sports/footb...52347jan14,0,1821365.story?coll=ny-jets-print
Looks like Rosenberg info which I posted last week was right on the money which was Mora was there guy. Thanks for Shotty update
Looks like Schottenheimer will have his interview this week. --------------------------------- There is a rumor that Capers might step in as the new head coach of the dolphins. What a boon that might be. (I seriously doubt that will happen - it's just like firing Pete Carroll to hire Kotite, if you ask me.)
