I don’t hate soccer so much as being turned off by “futbol” chauvinists posting threads about futbol and needlessly taking it a step further with the self-serving ”greatest sport on earth” salespitch. For example, what other sport vainly describes itself as “the beautiful game” while also giving the sportsworld hooliganism in the streets, rioting in the stands (hello Galatarasay), soccer pitches with barbed wire fences and moats, homophobic and racist chanting (hola Mexico y España), cheating thespians who fake injury to try and draw red cards, not to mention FIFA, the most corrupt organization in sports. ⚽️
It’s a sport played by foreigners, women and kids. Not red blooded American men. Everybody knows that
Joe. you are approaching it from a very hostile angle. NFL is more fun then soccer in my opinion. I rather watch a good NFL game then a good soccer game. World Cup is above Superbowl for me though. Violence in soccer isn't wide spread. Most of the games start and end peacefully. But I am not here to convince you. You feel however you feel. But can you let us talk soccer peacefully?
Hostile? I’m not the one who watches matches played on pitches that features barbed-wire fences and moats, etc. As a matter of fact I was going to catch the upcoming Galatasaray SK vs Beşiktaş match in Istanbul but alas the ’peaceful’ Istanbul locals are currently burning American flags and as a result the American embassy has been closed—so much for a peaceful soccer experience.
Sure. Like Conrad Hilton would say: location, location, location…. US closes consulate in Turkey amid anti-Israel protests https://efe.com/en/latest-news/2023-10-18/us-closes-consulate-in-turkey-amid-anti-israel-protests/
Joe. What does US consulate in Turkey has to do with soccer? What is the relevance my friend. Fuck Turkey really. Go watch a Premier League game if you like. Go watch Spanish La Liga or French League.

Watched some today and enjoyed it Man City played like such pussies though after an early 2-0 lead that I was almost rooting against them despite having money on them it was crazy Man City had some Arab airline on their jerseys and the other team had ‘American Express’ Somehow I cannot imagine the Jets wearing ‘British Petroleum’ on the front of their shirts against Miami ‘Saudi Air’ Dolphins
They are. Also, great background during work days--like baseball, serene and erudite, but without commercial breaks.
I like that they let the action happen without feeling like they need to comment or describe every single thing. Yes that is similar to baseball —- And at one point the announcer was like “the ball is sticking to Man City like…” I forget the metaphor he made but it was very eloquent and funny. In an NFL game that would be the announcers highlight of the season, it was just a casual observation for the Premier League
LFG Gala! (are they called that for short?) Fuck Bayern. And fuck Harry Kane haha (although he doesn't seem to be playing today)
Columbian women’s team during today’s “friendly” vs. the USWNT executed 333 passes resulting in a whopping total of 3 shots on goal throughout the 90 minute nail-biter. Final score: Columbia O; USWNT O (was at the edge of my seat throughout the slugfest)
I mean you deliberately chose to watch a meaningless international friendly with nothing at stake, so that's on you. Watch this Tottenham goal yesterday-- they are so fun to watch now https://x.com/Tottenham4everr/status/1718098123099410614?s=20

I don’t think I’ve ever loved a manager more than Big Ange. All Spurs fans are head over heels. Even rival fans grudgingly like the guy. The soccer is exquisite and we’re winning. No one saw this coming, this fast. And his press conferences are a delight. At some point we’ll lose a game or there will be a setback, but for now… it’s bliss
