I've heard this one before. Yet when given more snaps he produced more. Time to admit the obvious, the guy is an absolute beast. Should be a 3 man rotation between him, JFM, and JJ, with Huff getting probably the most snaps. We finally have a star pass rusher on the team who can wreak havoc pressuring opposing QBs. Oh, and btw, he has the best stop rate against the run and no missed tackles. He needs to play more. And yes, JD will need to transition tag him so no one else can get him and get the bag ready. Huff will be making a lot of money next season, which he deserves.
Honestly? Bc that’s what good teams to replenish their draft capital and get new talent. Eg: KC and Hill 2 years ago. As well the fact we’ll still be 4 deep on the edge. I’m not pounding the table hoping for a trade but it wouldn’t shock or upset me if we get good value.
Yeah, My thinking is they are going to let Huff walk. Otherwise they would not have drafted Mcdonald. I think it is a mistake as Huff is a great freaken pass rusher.
will be interesting to see…it may have been what they were thinking at draft time, but if Huff keeps playing like he’s playing (and they’ve been feeding him more snaps each week), they will likely change their mind. Dude is playing himself into a nice contract, and with pass rushers such a premium position, we’d be silly to let him walk if he continues to play like he’s done.
Wow. 27 run snaps over 6 games….. 5 snaps per game….. it’s almost as if he’s staying fresh by limiting his snap count and not being in the field during obvious run plays. FO: everything is working exactly as planned SOJF: time to change the plan!!
Been saying all year we should be signing him right now during the season before FA hits. If it’s one thing JD has shown us tho is that he does not learn from his mistakes, and he will keep his high draft pics over other guys who are producing more. Odds are he is gone, which would be a massive mistake. Hopefully we get a new GM here quickly.
I think it's possible that they tried and he told them he wanted to test FA. Why would he want to sign a long term deal with a team that he'll be rotating with 4 other guys and never getting a full starter shot? This dumb system does that. He'll get a chance with a team that will actually use him.
He's pretty much the player we hoped Lawson would be. The PFF figure of 3yrs/40m sounds alright to me
You could've paused there, added "like the Jets" and stopped - and everyone would've nodded their heads sympathethically
Why would he sign for a discount at a place he plays 40% of the snaps and thus limits his production? The guy might have an opportunity to get $50 million guaranteed on the open market and a full time position and he’s going to stay with the Jets?
