I think logically, we've all said for a year that "even with average quarterback play, this team can be....." <-- insert your hyperbole here. So, yes, with what we saw last night, the Jets can make a run at a playoff spot. BUT, it will require them winning the games they should win. No slipping up in Denver next week. What we saw last night should have been good enough to beat one of the top 3 teams in the league, so it would track that they should be in most games. There's no excuse for going into Denver against a team that has given up 98 points in the last two games and almost lost to the Bears.

Your right, it maybe a step forward. However, for me he has to be consistent. Also, I seem to recall when I thought he would be the guy after the Tampa game in his rookie season... and we know what has transpired since then.

One final point, his accuracy was very good last evening and his mechanics were much better...so lets hope he can build on this. Until that happens call me dubious.

I am sorry I do not buy you supposition (highlighted) or NC's about ZW or his ability to master the WCO.... If you consistently fail to execute basic plays, miss open WR, have the worst stats two year running and the worstthe 1st three games ....then that is on ZW...not ther coaches.

BTW, I will give him credit for taking responsibility for the fumble in fornt of the team and media. Another step in the right direction....

the other part too is there has been across the board some awful QB play in the NFL this year. even mahomes isn't having a normal mahomes season.

IMHO, Zach Wilson is exactly the type of QB who is not made for a west coast offense. He's stupid (can't process reads prior to the snap) and is at his best when he is throwing the ball downfield (not 8 yard slant patterns).

And why was that? Because they had the worst QB - by far statistically - in the league and did not trust him... that is reality. And NC. that is the formula to beat ZW - pressure him up the middle and he folds like a cheap suit... and it has been proven for 2 + years. Now if he CONSISTENTLY makes plays within 2.5 sec like he did last evening then the running game will improve...as long as they do not play cook.

How does ultra-conservative and totally predictable play calling help a QB? The answer is that it doesn't. It makes it impossible for him to succeed. Zach is a "gunslinger" type QB. You don't draft a QB with that mentality and then try to turn him into a game manager. You design an offense around him. That's the total opposite of what the Jets did with Zach and why he has been so bad, the worst QB statistically in the NFL. THAT is reality. Pressuring a QB up the middle is not just the way to beat Zach. It's the way to beat ANY QB in the NFL. It rattled Brady and got him off his game. You see what it did to Mahomes last night.

It has been proven because of the way the Jets botched his development and the scheme they forced him into. He never should have started his rookie season or even played the last 2 years in a WCO. Starting him in the WCO day one with a rookie HC, OC, and QB Coach and expecting him to change his footwork and style of play was a totally brain-dead move on the part of the Jets. It may still prove to have ruined Zach, but a lesser-talented QB would have already been ruined.

He earned the right to start against Denver next week for sure. But he would have to string together at least a few of these games to convince me that he's not who I think he is: a very bad QB who occasionally has a very good (but still not great) game. Remember he had a game a lot like this one against the Bills last year only to subsequently get himself benched for three different QBs.

The game where he threw for 154 yards and 1 TD and everyone called him a game manager? That one?

You realize we have to win to get into the postseason?

the point was the 1st 6 games were brutal. most only expected 2 wins maybe 3 even with rodgers. after that the next 11 only 4 are going to be tough so 7 should be winnable if zach plays like he did yesterday. thats 9 right there. winning one of the tough ones out of the 4 could be 10 wins which could possibly get in

Saleh/Douglas are 1-10 in their last 11. Every game must be tough

That's a Jets fan MO, bipolar, Zach's now leading us to the playoffs, wake me up, when he consistently plays well , Even a broken clock is right twice a day, you're capable of leading a offense in the national football league, show me, but numbers don't lie, and moral victories, are this franchises legacy

Regardless of Maholmes struggles this season, Chiefs are 1-3 , we're 1-3, winning solves all problems, from what I've seen out of this team, so far, they're a few years always from playoffs, Saleh looks miserable on the sidelines

I don't think anyone denies the results haven't been there. but we had half the team on IR last year by that point and this year last our QB after 4 snaps so sometimes things are just unlucky.
we were 7-4 last year even with zach/flacco at QB before the injuries piled up

he was mad over the refs yesterday.
quite a few "good" teams have looked bad so far. the bengals most notably who are 1-3 after making a nice run last year and losing nobody of worth and not having injuries. same with the vikes (1-3) giants (1-2). all 3 of those teams were playoff teams last year and didn't lose talent in the off season.

If this defense tightens up and Hall gets more than single digit touches (!!!) yes it's good enough

One more time - the Jets did not get Rodgers in to mentor Wilson.

If the Jets can generate +250 yards total, keep the time of possession differential under 10 minutes & generate a positive turnover ratio then we can be in every game.

What will convert that potential into wins is if Zach can operate in the 4th quarter and turn one score games in our favor.
