Chris Simms came out the same year he was pumping Zach Wilson pre-draft and said he considers that stuff his interview for GM. He is going to die like Billy Batts on that hill.
Not exactly. Just listened to this. You forgot to mention he admits he was wrong about Zach. It did take him a long time, but this is a clear admission of a mistake. He did point out offensive line issues and the fact only GW can get separation (we are starting old Cobb for Pete's sake and Uzomah lined up wide instead of Gipson and Hardman), which is a reasonable take. But he also says "<Zach> doesn't get it, he is never going to get it". This is VERY FAR from defending Zach. He basically says Zach doesn't get it, he was wrong about him, but Jets also have issues on OLine and WR. Does anyone disagree?
Says Jets offense wouldn’t be that much better with Aaron Rodgers. Said he finally gave up on Zach Wilson after he threw 3INTs in garbage time in week 2 because he doesn’t understand the politics of the position.
Why do people listen to this moron,? He was a bad quarterback himself. I rather listen to Tony Romo and Peyton Manning people who actually knew how to play the position.
Or maybe Namath when he says he "is done with this kid - he will not be a good player" Simms is a moron for sure
Why do they put him on TV? How could Dan Patrick sit there and not call him out for some of this garbage. It really took him until the 4th quarter of Dallas to give up on ZW? And then to say Aaron friggin Rodgers would only be a marginal improvement from Zach Wilson!!
That's harsh. It would look much better. But consider other points. Why the fuck are we playing Cobb so much? Is Hardman really that bad in practice that you play Cobb and even sometimes Uzomah over him lined up out wide? Loss of Davis really hurts here and WR room is weak. We have a #3 WR playing a #2, and #5 WR playing a #3. This is not great. OLine while finally looked decent in the 3d game, sucked ass first two games and has no depth. So, Chris does bring up valid points, JD needs to step up his game for next year assuming he doesn't get canned, when Rodgers is back to improve OLine (heard that one before?) and also WR for us to be a force. With that said, Rodgers would make a world of a difference on today's team. But ... that's why you need good oline.
So, not having seen what Joe Namath was talking about, does anyone have a clip of what he complained that "Zach sat down, quit on the play" Anyone see this or have a clip?
Simms, Douglas and Saleh refuse to admit Zach was a bad pick at #2 overall. In reality, he was the worst jets pick of all time at such a high position in the draft Even Lam Jones and Blair Thomas at #2 overall gave us a little production. SOJAZ, Ouchy and I repeatedly urged the jets on this board NOT to draft Zach. Simms crowed about Zach for months prior to the draft about great Zach would be. You were wrong, Chris. Douglas had a great 2022 draft but he screwed up #1 picks in 2020, 2021 (big time) and 2023. Most of his free agent signings are way overpaid and unproductive. Fire Douglas and Saleh after this season. I don't see the jets winning 5 games.
Thats the first time I've seen him say that he was wrong. Finally that fucker is admitting it. Now if the Jets could do the same...
Even Justin fields is looking like Joe Montana today, Zach is definately the worst qb in the league bar none.
