And after 3 months we get the spin and a completely different arguement from rashinmypants088. Weren't you saying that Mangini was going to be horrible and not even win 4 games (you might have said 6, not sure). Weren't you saying that the CS was going to be horrible because no one else in the league had them in for interviews and were inexperienced. Yet Schotty is now, after 1 year, up for HC positisions. The defense had a bad first half of the year, and did a complete 180 the second half. There were alot of rookies and a completely new scheme, penalties are too be expected. But then they started clicking, which was evident the last 4 games of the season, which you would know if you watched.

It is amazing Mangini proved you wrong, completely and utterly. Yet instead of coming here and admitting to that (which I have to give Champ69 for doing, he at least had some balls), you throw this crap around. It was just because of the soft schedule, a schedule similar to the Pats by the way, I wonder if you would call Belicheck overrated too. First the Jets won because of Hermie, now they win because of Penny? This is so tired already.

Yet you were the one killing the front office for not drafting Leinart and sticking with Chad.

That's my opinion - yeah. I think it was mainly luck.

I have tried numerous times to engage him in a debate and he never sticks around once his transparent points are kicked like a dick in the dirt. It's never worth the effort.

Raj has got to be Herms kid or something... I've never seen anyone make more invalid and untrue points to defend an ex coach in my life....

i guess it was also luck when Mangini helped develop Troy Brown and other nobodies into effective CBs for the Pats' maligned Secondary the past few years.

    cheers

If you had been attending training camps as I have for the past several years, I think you would change your opinion. There certainly is an element of luck involved, no doubt, but I can't make it any more plain. Under Edwards the stretching excersizes were a complete joke. Herm walked around, yukking it up while most of the players were just sitting there when they were supposed to be stretching. Mangini's staff was out there, helping and demanding full participation. They would help the players stretch hands on. They corrected their technique. The difference was night and day.

It came as no surprise to me that this year there were far fewer injuries. Flexability is a key factor in avoiding injuries. So is participation in the weight room. All things Mangini stresses, while Edwards ignored it.

It's nice for the Jets to have a healthy season for a change. They've probably had more seasons ruined by key injuries than any team in the history of the league. The Jets would need at least 10 straight of these types of seasons just to make things even.

    ___

Chew on this, rajensen088- Vince Lombardi's Packers teams worked harder than any other team in the 1960s. Ben Wilson was with the Rams (1963-65). He then went to the Packers for the 1967 season. He said the Rams would exercise for five minutes. The Packers would go for over a half hour.

Doing some simple math, I believe Bob has GOT to be in his 80's. I think he's just senile at this point.

    Regardless, welcome back Bobby.

Injuries are very often about luck however as Raj rightfully points out it's a healthy Pennington that is the key to 9 or 10 wins with Herm and with Mangini. What Raj falls to get is after Pennington's injury in 04, Herm decided Ty Law was more important than OL and protecting Pennington. We let K-Mac and Becht walk without an offer and we did nothing to address Fabini's deteriorating back problem which made him virtually useless. They also anionted Jones the starting RT without ever seeing him play significant minutes. On top of that the team was completely unprepared to play when the season opened which subjected several players to injury because they simply weren't prepared for game speed conditions.

While injuries to a large extent are a result of luck, it still isn't an excuse for a lack of preperation.

Where injuries are concerned, some amount of that is certainly LUCK. It seems in that department Herm has bad luck in spades. Some of those injuries were just unlucky and had nothing to do with training camps and conditioning. It just happens. And we were fortunate this year that the injury bug seemed to forget where the Jets played on Sundays. The reason we lost as many as we did that last year under Herm was mostly due to injuries.

All that being said... after seeing what Mangini brings to the table over Herm I would have to agree that we are better off with him (Mangini). Raj, you need some help man. Get yourself an 800 number and see a head doctor. :)

So did you assume we would be signifiantly more injured overall when you said Mangini wouldn't sniff 5 wins this year a million different times?

Just to let everyone know that was only on his first page of replies. I am hesitant to read what is on the other pages. I may laugh so hard, I may fall out of my chair and hurt myself.

All of you replying to Jensen will be lucky if he comes in here and responds. I highly doubt it.
