I was not comparing just refuting that it is "easy" to move up and down the field, but you knew that.
Got it. I was wondering why you responded to my thread on that comment. My two cents. It's clear to me that whenever the subject of Zach comes up, there is a massive amount of gamesmanship on both sides of the argument manipulating comments like "Is Zach improving", to "Can Zach be a suitable back up" , to "is Zach capable of becoming our franchise QB" IMO, There isn't a soul on earth so far that was asking "Can Zach become AR" As to your reference , for whatever is worth, I didn't interpret that as a comparison to AR as much as a rebuttal to the usual line that whatever Zach does well means nothing, because it was against back ups. Of course you already knew that.
Zach Wilson was relegated to the 3rd QB last year. This year he is the backup. This ongoing debate is really just a few guys busting balls. And I get that. People were dead set against drafting him and they deserve their time to crow they were right. With all that's going in with the Jets, the fact that we are still talking about the backup QB is mystifing. If Wilson has any future with the Jets it won't be for a while...probably 2 years. Maybe the Wilson talk will die down until then, but most likely not.
The ref to ZW being a third year player vs Rookie was pointed at CC...noy you sorry for confusion. PS... hope you guys areright about ZW...
Here's the actual universe. The Jets were 6-4 when Saleh decided to bench Wilson in favor of Mike White. When all was said and done we finished 7-10. Those players I'm full support of White really let him down. Now I'm not saying that is all White's fault but the revisionist history here is remarkable. White have a 75.7 passer rating while going 1-3 as the starter. Wilson had a 72.8 passer rating. White wasn't even 3 points better. Enough with this guy who might not beat out Skylar Thompson for the #2 position in Miami.
All good on my end…may have been reading too fast but no issues here…I also agree with most of your posts as well on most players. On Zach, however, we just disagree and that’s fine that you are more optimistic than I am on him…he frustrates me to no end, partly because I still hate Gase for winning meaningless games and costing us the chance to draft Lawrence, and instead we got saddled with Zach. I try to stay objective though and to me, the eye test matches the stats…he’s been one of the worst QB’s in the league, if not THE worst, over his two years playing. Yes there were reasons and there were excuses…I would bet that someone like a Mahomes would not have struggled like Zach did given the same circumstances. Or even Jalen Hurts, who struggled his first year, made nice steps after that. As did Josh Allen. The difference is that Zach did NOT make any great strides in Year 2…it was the same shit we saw the first year. So that’s not a good look. I get they are kind of resetting him, and treating him almost like a rookie and just trying to build him back up again. Fine. It’s sad that that’s where we are with the 2nd overall pick, but I can live with it now that we have Rodgers here. So sure, he looked ok in preseason (certainly better than he’s been) playing against mostly 2nd and 3rd teamers…I would have expected a better showing of a third year QB, but it is what it is. I do hope he gets there and develops…I just think the odds are very low … in this case though, I hope you’re right and I’m wrong!
The Patriots waived Bailey Zappe. He would make a good backup, he looked comfortable in relief last year Sounds like they want Colt McCoy? Belichick aint worried about butt-hurt feelings like Bob Saleh is. Always upgrade when you can
