He wont. Boyle is not going to be a hot name on the waiver wire so they can cut him and still keep him close to the phone. They absolutely should be looking for a classic backup QB though and floating Wilson's name around for anyone interested

 

Boyle has been on an active roster or the practice squad for his entire career (6th year.) Last year he was on the practice squad for the Lions. All other years he was on an active roster. I don't see him being out of work for long once he is cut.

 

I have mentioned Kyle Allen before if Buffalo keeps Barkley for the familiarity and cuts him, he would be a good option for the no.2 QB. Unfortunately Barkley looked like trash last week so Allen might keep his spot by default

Interestingly though NFL.com writer has suspected Marcus Mariota cut be cut from Philly because they have a 6th round rookie they really like behind Hurts.

If that happens Joe Douglas needs to jump on that fast. Mariota would be the perfect backup behind Rodgers for this team and could win a few games if needed

Boyle definitely should be cut. I agree that he's awful. Still, that emergency QB is taking up a roster spot, it doesn't matter if he's not on the active gameday roster nearly as much as the fact that he would be taking up a roster spot that another WR, TE, OL, DL, RB, LB, S, or CB could have taken up.

 

I want no part of White. He would be almost as much a waste of a roster spot as Boyle.

He already got $3.42M of that in his signing bonus. Minimum PS salary would mean he makes about $800K less. $1.08M active roster vs $207K PS

Come Tuesday there will be a quarterback cut that is better than Wilson and will win us a game or 2 if Rodgers goes down. You want Wilson to learn just watch from upstairs

 

Let's just hope that we don't have to talk about Zach Wilson again for the rest of the season. It should all be about AR8 now
