How much work do you think Rodgers will get in the preseason games. Or will Zach get the bulk of the time. Injuries are a concern but also getting the proper timing with the offense to start the season will also be important. Thoughts??
I'd be surprised if Rogers takes a single pre-season snap, but you never know. He's been a different man this year (so far).
Hopefully a quarter of the 3rd game or maybe a drive or two. It's a long season, no need to put him out there.
Personally I think he needs some work. After all the first game is against the Bills probably their #1 contender. Can't put him in a glass bubble.
IMHO He will call all the shots as to how much and with what receivers. He will do just enough to feel ready with his starters in game situations and not an ounce more. And that is the way it should be. Remember when we lost Chad on one of the most insanely stupid preseason dumb shit exercise in idiocy. Most of the first game specific installations and comfort with the receivers will be done ad nausea in practice.
Rodgers is perhaps the most finicky QB in modern history when it comes to personnel preferences. The man knows what he likes. With a brand new set of peeps, my hunch is that unless the O-line is really struggling, he is going to play a lot -- at least ten possessions/four full quarters in three games. Maybe more.
I highly doubt this. They have a bunch of joint practices this year. He won't play in the first 2 games at all. Maybe a possession or two in one of the other games.
I doubt he plays much if at all. At most he would get a series or two in one of the games otherwise Wilson and the 3rd stringer will be playing. We might not even see Rodgers until the Bills game.
I don't think he's taking a snap. He's a million years old. If both him and the team doesn't think he needs it, than there is zero point in risking it. Its going to be a great opportunity for Zach to show everyone what he's made of. I'd like to see multiple touchdown drives.
Disagree on Zach. In preseason the starters don't play. Those who do only want to get used to playing football again by getting hit or hitting someone. Basically, shaking off the rust. They are not really putting their bodies on the line to win the game. The game plan is strictly vanilla. Zach probably will play well but I would guess if he had to play a regular season game he would struggle. As long as Rodgers stays healthy, we won't see Zach in the regular season. Unless it's in garbage time in a blow out and then you can't take anything away from his performance either as the game is already over.
I dont disagree with what you're saying. Zach is riding the pine for two years (or however long Rodgers is here). I guess my point was that Zach needs to be good in the preseason. If he comes out and doesn't show any improvement in the preseason, he probably won't even be the backup come the regular season.
Good chance he will. He might struggle early on. First time in real game action with a new team plus the Bills defense is pretty good. I expect it will be a close, hard-fought game.
the jets are doing two weeks of joint practices. thats where the starters will get the majority of their work in ... rodgers wont play in any pre-season games
