The bigger story going into the game might be the recovery timeline around Josh Allen's July 4th fireworks accident. Not that it will happen in real life like it does in the dream, but.
He will be 100% active and ready for week 1. The injury gave him plenty of time to make a full recovery. The question will be how much does the coaching staff want to use him.
I think the Izzy pick was to keep this pipeline of young RBs we have strong. An additional perk is Izzy, Bam, and MC can def provide solid play from the RB position if Breece isn't ready to go for the first few weeks for some reason.
Well, that was indeed a great game but I was referring to 2018, Darnold's first game against Detroit.
Under Hackett and Rodgers look for a different way they use running backs. In the three years that were together Rodgers was 266 of 305 throwing in the flat 87.5% and no interceptions with 22 TD's and 1875 yards. Of that total little over 50% in all categories went to running backs. I think you'll see a more diverse attack using Breece and the rest of the talent. Could be a bonus for Michael Carter too.
I said something similar a few weeks ago. In GB, running it and using rbs overall is/was so not realized as much as it should be. We're going to need all the rb we have. Sent from my IPhone 43 using Tapatalk V.86
He might technically be 100% and active for week one, but that doesn’t mean he returns the same player. Runningbacks are usually about 21 months before they feel like they did pre-injury (and that includes the mental aspect of it). It’s not like they’re at a medical disadvantage but they almost need to re-learn how to run in a football game like they did before they got hurt. That takes time. I think he can be a similar player again as guys do it all the time, but to expect it in the first half of the season is aggressive. I’d like to see him on the PUP list for the first six weeks frankly. It’ll be like a trade deadline acquisition when he returns and we have Knight and the kid to hold the fort.
