Unless I missed something, he was the first C taken so clearly JD’s preferred guy. no complaints. Hoping he is Mawae 2.0 (also a second rounder IIRC)
I will not be surprised he beats out CMG this year. Now there is a real competition at the spot, and a good back-up in case of injury.

Tippmann should start right away at either center or guard. With Wisconsin’s inconsistent performance, Tippmann’s individual efforts largely went unnoticed in the center-heavy Big Ten. Every snap he played the past two years came at center, and he posted some impressive numbers. Despite facing many physical interior linemen in 2021 and 2022, Tippman (6-6, 313) allowed just one sack and four combined hits on the quarterback. Tippmann may be listed as a center, but he also could flip to guard, which he acknowledged at the combine. With his length, it might actually be a better move in the long run. But in the short term, it might be at center. Grade: A
Based on what Woody said, sounds like he was their top choice for round two even if they had top second round pick or even late first rounder. Baldinger was also advocating for Pitts to take him at #32 (basically a 1st round) and build a brick wall with him and Broderick Jones. This is what I was referring to where I said after Jones was gone there were a bunch of similarly rated guys that can go in first or early second with comparable talent. Now Baldy may not know a lot about other positions, but he does know OLine.

It probably doesn't mean a whole lot but I thought it was odd. During the presser with Saleh and Douglas, JD mentioned that Tippmann had "only played center" but in that interview Tippmann talks about having only switched to center from T and G a couple years ago.
They prob really just want him to be the center and succeed there. Moving to guard feels like a letdown maybe?
He was talking about his first year of having real practices and trying to make it on the field… that year, in games, he played a total of 11 snaps, all of them at RG. He played the next 1,445 snaps at C.
