This is a Woody special. He got the guy the Jets can market and he'll have scapegoats galore if it goes south. Lost in all of that is that we're screwed for yet another 3 years if it goes south because giving up a top 10 pick for Rodgers next season is going to be the icing on the shitcake.
We overpaid. Not because Rodgers isn't worth what we traded for him (he is worth way, way more), but because the Packers had no other options. All we had to do was stand firm through Thursday and the Packers would have come crawling to us on Friday morning for the second round pick (and a little more). We gave away the 2024 first round pick for no reason other than someone (probably Woody) panicked. My guess is that Woody wanted ESPN talking about the Jets all night on Thursday and forced the trade now so that he had Rodgers before then; in other words, he gave away a first round pick because he's stupid.
I hate the 1st round pick in 2024. Basically, all Rodgers has to do is play 11-12 games and they get the 1st rounder next year. We'd better at least make the play-offs now!
Apparently there are still additional details we are waiting on regarding salary. Also Rodgers wanted to be in camp. Dude is ready to ROCK
Its honestly crazy to think about where we were a year ago to where we are today. A year ago this franchise was dead and hopeless. Had a surprising start to the season but unfortunately the Zach Wilson decided to be the worst QB in the league. If Wilson had shown any sort of promise or potential this trade never is even a thought. Now we enter 2023 with Aaron Rodgers, and Aaron Rodgers is playing with the best roster he might have ever has played with. For the first time since 2010, we have a shot.
Jets gave up too much like everyone said but Jets finally have a quarterback for the short term which is good and I am glad the trade is finally done so we can move on
Wow, I'm glad we got him and can put this to rest. Not a huge fan of this trade value wise, but if we can get two years and a deep playoff run then it's more then worth it with our current team. A potential low first round pick I can deal with giving up at best.
I will cheer him when he plays, but that sounds like a horrible deal. First- and second-round picks for a guy who may play one season. I’ll be interested to see if there are any other wrinkles, but we just gave the Packers first- and second-round picks for a guy they didn’t want and who they owed a fortune to. JD got shafted on this.
This feels like a deal that could have been made weeks ago, but Woody or Joe caved (unless GB is eating more money). Wasn't there a previous report that we wanted a conditional 2025 back should Rodgers not play in 2024?
Say what you want about GB GM, but he got a sweet deal for someone whom he wasn't going to pay 60 mil anyway. I really hope it does not cost us a starting tackle.
Maybe not win a SB, but at least AFC championship. We gave up A LOT. IF we suck next year, we are royally fucked without a great 1st round pick in 2024. Now, if it is a pick 32, I can live with that.
