So the pass to Miller was straight at him and with him facing the goal and with a Sabre bearing down on him. It doesn't excuse the turnover but it was a pretty crappy pass to begin with. The first thing I thought when I saw it was that Miller was going to get blamed for a play that was half his fault and half the fault of the guy throwing the puck cross ice in front of the goal under pressure.
Cut everyone. Fire everyone. Sell the team. You act like this team didn’t just have a 107 point season. If we showed the general public all your posts with no context on the Rangers season, they’d think the Rangers were tanking for Bedard.
Halak has actually been pretty good after the first 8 games when the Rangers scored 12 goals total for him.
At a minimum of 20 games played, Halak’s goals saved above expected was 1.1, which puts him at 29th in the league.
Rangers vs Devils ! Can't wait. I hope the Panthers can begin to wear down the Bruins. But that team is a god damn force this year. Presidents cup winner ... Etc . Excited to see this year's playoffs play out
Also, I believe that puck was on edge or bounced a little. I had it dvr'd but didn't bother going back to it for a retort. What's the use? Lol at ragging on Miller. LOL
Rangers vs Devils should be a war. Devils are faster, Rangers are bigger. The wildcard is Igor. Rangers in 6.
You don’t care about that stat. Here’s two stats for you. Halak has the 22nd best GAA of 2.72 and the 31st best save percentage. Halak is a perfect backup. Your expectations are just whack.
Goals saved above average is an important stat, maybe the most important stat when it comes to determining how good a goalie is. I certainly want my back up goalie to have a good goals saved above avg. Gives me confidence we'll be in the games when he starts There is a reason Halak has won a Jennings a few seasons ago
I would be willing to bet good money that if you went to any universally accepted hockey expert (Sam Rosen, Don Cherry, Mike Emrick, ect.) they could tell you without any hesitation that Ken Dryden won over 250 games, had a save percentage over 92%, had a GAA of under 2.25, but they would have no fucking clue what his "Goals saved above average" was.
The third and fourth lines are probably a lock, but I am curious as to the final decisions about lines 1 and 2 will be. Then again, does it really matter with the way Gallant shuffles lines mid game?
Goals saved above expected is a great statistic. Just because you don’t understand it, doesn’t mean it’s a bad statistic. Hockey is beginning to enter the modern era of sports, which means better analytics.
