I'm not too worried about the bats, but yeah, it's the pitching that has me worried. No Diaz, 2 ancient aces, and a bunch 5's. What's the latest on Quintana?
I'm starting to believe they don't want to play him so it doesn't tank his trade value if he stinks. Alvarez may be the key cog in an Ohtani trade at the deadline. They also drafted Parada a few year back and people have spoken very highly of him as a prospect. There was no reason to not bat Alvarez on Friday at the end of the game when they started bringing in their PHs.
Last year it took until deep into the season for him to show any life. Very likable guy but they can’t allow that for two seasons in a row. You have to assume they’re trying to manipulate service time. However June seems very far away if this is how Escobar is going to play.
Yeah, he's not good. I'd give him to maybe mid-May and if his bat doesn't come around then it's time to bring up the kid. Nice series win against the Padres.
Mets have drawn 17 walks, a club record. Senga had a 12-3 lead going into the bottom of the 5th and couldn't get three outs to get the win (he had given up 7 hits and 4 walks on 96 pitches when he left with one out in the 5th).
