None of his 1st round picks outright busted. They were too expensive in general because he traded up twice and they took too long to become really productive but they all were NFL players in the end. However he had no clue how to maintain a roster let alone rebuild one. The Jets OL was like a constant rebuild and usually had a weak spot because when you trade up and buy top end free agents you wind up with street meat, sometimes in the starting lineup. Chad's wrist got broken in 2003 because the Jets guards on the field in front of him in pre-season were a converting DT learning how to play OG (Brandon Moore) and a Fin reject (Brent Smith). In 2005 the Jets were playing Adrian Jones at LT when Chad separated his shoulder. In 2007 they had Adrien Clarke at LG for 16 games. It just never ended. The OL would come together for a few years and then Wayne Hunter would wind up helping Mark Sanchez on the way out the door. The point is that being able to pick a good player out of the 1st round is not a sign of a good GM. All NFL GM's should be able to operate the first few rounds of the draft. If they need to trade up to do it they are robbing Peter to pay Paul and that's going to cost the team somewhere down the line. I like AVT a lot but we gave up two 3rd round picks to choose him over somebody else in the NFL draft. I don't think the Jets ever have a talent margin that suggests that 3rd round picks are expendable for preferences that are just as likely to get hurt as any other NFL player.

I’m surprised no 1st round picks for a team all in to win now I’m surprised trading for The Bengals’ worst OT is a step to cure our OT woes I’m surprised the Rams would trade the RB they got with a premium pick who is finally 100% after his ACL tear…. A great trade for us since Breece won’t be 100% this year. A very surprising draft

Here's my one and only attempt at a simulator this year. I kept it simple - no trades. 1. Peter Skoronski - OT 2. O'Cyrus Torrence - OG 3. Zacch Pickens - DT 4. SirVocea Dennis - LB 5. Dorian Thompson-Robinson - QB. I really like Skoronski's potential versatility, especially with all the question marks on the Jets OL. One way or the other he'll make a big contribution this year. Taking Torrence with the second pick is just making sure we have no excuses this year for having at least an above average, if not very good, OL, no matter what happens. I think Pickens is underrated and can be a force in both pass rushing and run "D" which we can't have enough of. Dennis is also very underrated, and while he might well turn out be a very good LB, he might even be used as a S. DTR is just a hunch and hedging of bets if Zach actually fails to turn things around. At this point in the draft, I couldn't pass him up.
Bc you’re in capable of telling sarcasm, I need to point out the all OT and QB “the price for Rodgers just went down” draft and the trade all picks for just 3 were not serious mocks
@Borat You don’t draft depth at 15, you do it in the 4th.. added bunus link below if you want to read my OP the case for Bijan https://jetswire.usatoday.com/2023/04/28/new-york-jets-jahmyr-gibbs-interest/
@Borat every fucking mock draft looks pretty similar. DL or RB in the 1st and OT in the 4th….. What happened? The RBs we wanted were off the board at 15 so we went with DL…. Any then took OT in the 4th…. How tf can you function in life if you can’t see this obvious pattern?
I felt like doing a 2024 mock using PFN just for the hell of it. We are picking 26 as of now. 32. Troy Franklin WR Oregon(after trade down with KC) 64. Layden Robinson G Texas A&M 89. Calen Bullock S USC 113. Tyreem Powell LB Rutgers 189. Shemar Turner DT A&M
A two round at pff is also up. I reject our ability to pick at 26 without Rodgers playing 65% of the snaps
NYJ 24.Brian Thomas Jr.- WR LSU 48.T'Vondre Sweat - DT Texas 56.Cooper Beebe - OG Kansas State 72.Jonathon Brooks - RB Texas 87.Javon Bullard - S Georgia 96.Cedric Gray - LB North Carolina 185.Tyler Davis - DT Clemson 256. Carter Bradley - QB South Alabama 257. Isaac Rex - TE BYU Traded down a couple times in round one to get the extra picks. Pretty happy with this one.
You got some excellent prospects, no question about it, but not a single OT that makes it flawed imo.
