Moore was more potential than production…I had high hopes for him but he never really showed all that much, and the attitude hissy fit was just a killer I do think this is building ammunition for the Rodgers deal, though
Must be trade compensation as others have noted. I'm guessing (and it is guessing) the delay may well have been JD wanting the picks in his pocket before executing on it. So the net cost could well be Elijah Moore, the 2023 third and a 2024 conditional pick for Aaron Rodgers. Green Bay get the 2023 #42 pick and the 2024 conditional. If that is how it plays out then Joe Douglas has knocked it out the park again.
Not all of his pickups work but his value on the trade blocks have been damn good. To get that for a guy who showed really nothing besides a few glimpses in his rookie year and flip it got AR while still holding onto a 2nd would be nice
Also think Douglas was sending a shot across the bow with this trade. If you act up and cause turmoil go play for the Browns.
So am I understanding this deal right? We give Moore to Cleveland in return for a 2nd and 3rd this year?
Okay. Well that makes it not quite a typical Joe Douglas Home Run, but it's still a damn good trade, especially if it enables us to get Rodgers. And that reinforces my belief that JD won't give up both 2nds this year.
I think this was Douglas's plan all along to send no higher than a 2 pick for Rodgers along with a player and a conditional pick next year. After playing hardball for a couple of weeks with the Packers hopefully Green Bay will take this deal and this epic saga will conclude.
