The defense was better than it's been. Igor made some nice saves also. The story right up until Kreider's first goal was Jarry playing the game of the year for him and denying the Rangers on a bunch of point-blank shots.
I don't know how anyone who watched that game could say that the defense played well last night. Sure, the forwards played better defensive hockey, but two pairs of defensemen got beat on the exact same play with Crosby passing out of the corner to a wide open player in front. I have been accused of being a "troll" numerous times on this board. How can anyone blindly ignore what is going on, and refuse to acknowledge there is a real issue with defensive depth?
I have butt heads with you countless times on this board, but that will not stop me from agreeing with you when I think you are right.
The Penguins had 39 goals in their prior 10 games, the best mark in the league, and they got held to two goals last night. Defense was not the problem. Solving Jarry was the problem right up until Kreider put the game-winner by him.
Again, you seem to be missing my quintessential point: They got beat by the exact same play TWICE. That is not indicative of a deep and resourceful defensive corps.
They gave up two goals that's just not a disaster no matter how you want to look at it. From my perspective the game should have been about 5-1 Rangers going into the 3rd. That's what has me worried.
As much as that dickbag Archibald tried to at game's end by going after Alexis Lafrenière that noted goon enforcer.
The scary thing is that I think Lafreniere is probably the closet thing the Jets have to an enforcer after Trouba.
