All the more reason time is on our side. I’d be very OK with this draft passing without a deal getting done.

It boggles my mind that people think Green Bay has any leverage whatsoever when their quarterback says publicly I’m not playing for you and this is the team I want to play for, their owner says Yep we don’t want him to play for us anymore and the draft is coming up. If Green Bay is dumb enough to let this roll past the draft and not collect on anything until 2024 when the picks are probably going to be worse then that’s a master class in poor management. Nice to finally be able to say that about another franchise.

It looks like we may need our second round pick also (43d overall) the way free agency is going. We need a starting Tackle and starting IDL to replace Rankings. All the major FA trench players are flying off the board... Center is also wide open...

Agree with couple of posts above . While AR will more likely be a Jet, it may end up being more Costly for the Jets. JD is going to be forced to pay more than he anticipated as Woody can no longer back down.

Ya never go fly out to him. That was ridiculously stupid. I could go on and on but I won’t

You ask for permission from GB and tell Rodgers to come visit you at Jets HQ.

-If he comes, it shows he’s serious about playing in 2023,
-if not then he’s headed to retirement. oh well

When he’s there you tell him you want him, how pretty he would look in Jets green. Where the nearest ayahausca dealer is,, etc etc

but then you tell GB afterwards “meh, idk, it was nice to meet him but it’s a lot of money and Derek Carr is pretty cool too”

that’s how you get Aaron Rodgers for cheap

This is 1000% spot on in my opinion. I LMAO listening to M Tannenbaum and Bruschi argue the opposite, with idiotic statements like “ GB has all the leverage and waiting after June first is the best time ” total horseshit, you can renegotiate and solve the cap issue before then and avoid getting zero picks this year, Bruschi said “ AR is no longer a Packer, so I want as many picks for my team as possible” well the problem is Bruschi, AR is still a Packer and will be a Packer till the deal is done. And like it or not, the worse case scenario is for the Packers to have him back at this time. Massive embarrassment. Cap or no cap he gets payed the full amount if he stays.
I said it before, at this point say fuck it, play hard ball and wait past the draft, concentrate on free agency, all this smoke hides nothing, players know what is going on and where AR will be. Let them sweat bullets and squeeze the shit out of them as we approach the season.

There you go. Show them who is the boss and why a top winning organization like the Jets does not go to them, because they are the ones that need us and must act accordingly.

We got to the title game within two years of Farve leaving GB too. Just not with Farve.

yeah but we'd be better off taking a QB at 13 and signing bridgewater then overpaying for a 1 year rental. rodgers is just a 1 year stop gap, he just happens to be a really good one. nobody shell's out a teams future for a 1 year player. stafford and wilson were 5 year + solutions. watson was a decade + solution. rodgers isn't that so isn't worth that much. the closest trade to start with is the favre to the jets one which was for a 2nd. same situation. thats a fair starting point. they could throw in a conditional pick if he plays a 2nd year for us. anything more is an overpay
