As was already stated, we’ve lost depth on OL and DL…I would have liked to keep Herbig and Rankins…Sheppard wasn’t great but was decent depth also. I’m assuming that while we probably have a good idea of Rodgers cap implications, if some of the sticking points are salary pick up by GB, then that would impact our cap situation, so while it may not be handicapping us all the way, it definitely would help to have the deal done and know exactly what the cash and cap implications are. But I am concerned about our OL and DL for sure…we need help on both, and maybe that was JD’s plan to use the draft to fill those holes, but I would feel WAY better if we were able to sign one or two linemen And interesting that the Dolphins have taken a few of our guys in White, Berrios, etc.
Agreed, it is early, I am just commenting on where we are so far, and it is not great. Brown and Brendel were the guys I wanted, Jets tried, but both are gone, elsewhere, while we lost some key guys at the trenches. JD needs to get to work, that's all I am saying. Arod situation might drag on for a long time. Top players will not last too long on open market, and we haven't really gotten one with many already gone.
I'm with you. Priority with me goes hand in hand with JDs approach. Beef up both sides of the line first, foremost and often. We did miss on two good candidates but happy to see JD pursued them.
While I don't think Berrios or White are all that good they do have the potential to be dangerous at times especially Berrios. All it takes is one play by Berrios even if it's the only play he makes all game it could be a game changer
No points for trying unfortunately. Lazard signing was decent, but it's not like he is some top FA. We also lost on Fletcher Cox. There aren't that many great IDLs or OTs left in the market now...
Herbig and Rankins are the only real losses. And even then, they're just nice depth players. Everyone else they've lost are guys that every team loses at the end of a season. I'm not going crazy yet. Rankins was signed on March 23rd , and Herbig was brought in as a waiver claim in May. I'm going to let Douglas do his thing, and complain later. The first wave of free agency has never been his priority
Cimini speculated on his podcast that Calais Campbell could be a name to watch for the Jets. He's way up there in age, but has still been very good. That'd be a good add
I read somewhere JFM renegotiated his deal freeing an additional $4M. Im trying to find a link to comfirm
Glasgow stinks but if we aren't bringing back McGovern (no clue why we aren't) then we are pretty F'd.
Was thinking he might be the target... Pretty much McGovern or Ben Jones from Tennessee as far as I can see. Isaac Seumalo is a really solid guard available but not sure he can play Center. Evan Brown from Detroit is another. Regardless, they need to prioritize center in the draft.
Ekeler would be an awesome complement to BH. Shonn Greene and LT all over, I am a huge Ekeler homer from Fantasy Football. Hate to see him go to the Bills...
I’d love that. We have been weak on interior DL, and just lost a couple more pieces. Solomon Thomas should not be anything more than a backup. Campbell is old, but he’s huge, and I don’t think would carry anywhere near his price tags of old. Good leader too. On a side note, why haven’t we extended Q yet? That’s making me nervous.
