To me it is a win for these 2 reasons. 1) Corey Davis is hurt too much for my taste. 2) Lazard has familiarity with Rodgers which to me is the real win. P.S. - Hope we stay away from Cobb.
I don’t really see it as a win or a loss. It’s negligible and he’s probably slightly overpaid. He averages 677 yards and 6 touchdowns over a 17 game season over the past four years. If we’re really going to do this two year window thing it doesn’t really matter in the long run since I’d assume he’s very cuttable after year 2. The Jets cap guys are going to have to get very creative with their loot. If they do, we can be like the Buccaneers and be SB contenders in back to back years.
So how are we to sign Rodgers if we have less than $1 mil in cap space? Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk
I see it differently. . Better and more consistent performer, more effective in the red zone, less money, less injury prone, familiar with AR, with a reasonable number for two years. All that while we are letting go of Berrios and most likely Davies while improving both the roster and the financial position.
We're not signing him, we're trading for him, and it all depends on how much of his salary the Packers are absorbing
I like it. He's a good compliment to G. Wilson. I was never in love with Corey Davis, he gets shoved around all game like a bitch. At least Lazard shoves back.
He's an excellent blocker, big body we needed. Slight upgrade over Davis for the same $ and familiarity with Rodgers. I'll take it, I've had him on my fantasy team a few times.
When he's snagging first downs left and right next season you might even contemplate buying a pet lizard.
Good pick up! Once we get Rodgers, can I suggest we change the name of this site to TheGangGreenBay.com?
I actually don't know much about him, I don't like the vibe surrounding this move though. I need to go watch some tape on him before I have a judgement overall though. I don't like this "wish list" shit.. Really rubs me the wrong way.
So with Lazard, our WR room looks like GW, Davis, Lazard, Moore, Mims and Jeff Smith…we may lose one of them (most likely Davis or Moore) to the Packers in trade if we package a player in the deal, but that seems like a decent group to play with AR. If we do trade a wideout in the Rodgers deal, we can also pick up a receiver (but with our history of 2nd round receivers - which apparently JD has not been immune to - I sure hope it’s not a second round receiver)…
Probably an indication that we may be either cutting Davis or else trading one of our receivers back to GB in the Rodgers deal…
I would think Davis is out. His contract isn't bad. I could see a team trading a very late pick for him.
You can stick with the injury-prone 28 year old on the decline who has a 50% catch rate, or you can sign your new QBs preferred target who is younger, taller, healthier, faster and is only getting better. Only Jets fans could find a way to complain about choosing the latter.
