Actually draft picks take months to happen - you have to have done a lot of homework leading up to the draft to know what you want and what your alternate plans are. And draftees have virtually no power so "trying to figure things out" is kind of a moot point.
If he truly wants to play football, he will come to the Jets even if it is not his preferred destination. If he doesn't want to come here and would rather not play, I doubt he seriously wants to play football. Also 110 mil is not chump change, even for someone who is rich.
I should have phrased differently. By the time you're on the clock, your homework should have been completed. You should have your plan A,B and C already to go if one or two options goes wrong. This is not the case with Rodgers. He should know by now, after all this drama, what he's gonna do. He's not still "on the fence". Wasn't that trip to the darkness supposed to solve the question? If not, then what was the point of it all?
Again, I don't know what he might be trying to negotiate - I doubt it's money, but rather something other intangibles or something - so my guess is that he has made his mind up, but he's just trying to get these other pieces worked out. Of course he could just be playing the "drama queen" role that everyone is accusing him of, and of so, fuck him, but from listening to him talk over the past couple of months that role doesn't seem to fit IMO.
I'll be the one to say it. The fact that he is doing this to his potential new team and dragging this out with tampering open as of this literal second of this post, if I'm the Jets I tell him thanks but no thanks. He doesn't get to hold our franchise hostage. He's not even on our team. Jets have done everything possible to get it done but he is being super selfish at this point. We are at most 48 hours away from risking Jacoby Brisset being our starter in 2023 bc Arod can't make a decision. And I will say if it goes this way nobody is to blame but Woody who jammed this down everyone's throats with the risks known.
Wow. We really let this guy fuck us around for a full week and into the start of free agency. Incompetence, and if it doesn't work out there needs to be a new GM in place before the start of next season when we are yet again looking for a QB.
I have to believe this is the case. Douglas seems very calculated and cautious. This is everything but.
