I literally think Rodgers just doesn't want to play for the Jets and he doesn't want to retire. So, he's currently fucked. This really doesn't make sense right now otherwise.
Fucking guy is generationally wealthy and is going to add $60 mil on top of it. What else could he be asking for? And if he IS asking for even more then you know what we call that?
I’ve been following all the drama like the rest of you. But if there is one thing I know, JD is going to execute his free agency plan regardless of what Rogers does. We need O-Line help, so he’s going to go after that. He also probably has contracts waiting to be adjusted (eg., Mosley) if/when Rogers decides. Nobody is being held hostage. Been feeling this for days. The silence is almost him screaming for someone else to come get involved.
He is not really fucked. The money is still guaranteed. GB can say they don't want him, but they still have to pay him. The Jets on the other hand...
if there were only 5 or so people on earth that can do what they can do, AND my business had a better chance to be great than ever before with that potential employee, then yes.
I had the same thought, if he doesn't want to play for the Jets, he can just say it bc of the no trade clause. He could say, I'm not interested in NY so find someone else, or I'll be in GB
I understand making Rodgers your Plan A, even now he's still a borderline top 5 QB in the league if he's fully healthy. I've just disagreed with having the entire organization held hostage while he decides what he wants to do. It's easy for me to say because I've never had to negotiate something like this but if we let a borderline top 10 guy walk because we were too focused on a guy that doesn't even come play for us? Yikes, that's a very tough pill for me to swallow. We could pivot to a Stafford/Cousins, but if you're ok with those guys, you literally had a younger version of that sitting there waiting for you. All you had to do was sign him.
For everyone who is now saying "Fuck this wait!", what do you do when the draft is running and the Jets are "on the clock"? How often have good deals been made at the last second? It's maddening I know, but a good negotiator uses all the time available to get the best deal.
He does not have a no trade clause, but effectively no one will trade for him unless he wants to come there. So, GB will have to pay if he says I want to stay in GB, whether they want him or not. Unless he officially retires, they will pay 110 mil over two years, even if he is a back-up for them, 58 of which will be in a few months from their escrow account. So, I don't really see Aaron as fucked here no matter what happens. GB may be fucked, the Jets may be fucked, but Aaron is OK.
Draft picks don't take weeks to happen nor do they require time spent in solitude to figure shit out..
maybe i'm confusing him with Carr's situation? Either way, may as well be a 'no-trade clause" bc all he has to do is tell any prospective team, that he'll retire if traded and the deal would be dead anyway
He Is fucked. I don't care about the money. Dude is rich already. I don't think he gives a fuck about It either. Not like people think anyway. He wants to play football. That's where he Is fucked. If he doesn't want to play for the NYJ, and if he doesn't want to retire. Then he Is likely hoping for a better home to play. Which, obviously Isn't there for him. Hence, fucked.
