It matters because of FA. They have to plan around what they are doing at QB. It's a big issue. If they wait around forever for Rodgers, that only further hinders what they can do now. The rest of the league Isn't going to wait on this situation to come to fruition. It's a big deal.

Rodgers is not a free agent. Tannahill is not a free agent, Not sure JG is one either. All three require some form of trade if at all. Tampering period applies to free agents. While I hope we sign tomorrow, not sure the deadline is based on nothing more than fan impatience.
I'm pretty sure what people mean by needing him signed by FA is that if we are still in the dark we cannot act on FA until we know what we got cap and roster wise. Most of the best players will go pretty fast and without knowing where we stand with Rodgers we wont be a player in any dealings. It would be like being held hostage at that point.
Jimmy is a FA but the bigger point is there’s a HUGE difference between selling other free agents on playing with Rodgers and maybe playing with Jimmy fucking Garoppolo. No matter what, this has to end tomorrow by noon. Or JD needs to be fired.
If your point about ending tomorrow it’s either yes or no on AR I agree. If your point is it has to end tomorrow with a yes then forget it, JD does not control that.
It has to be a yes or no. If it’s a no, JD should still be on the hot seat because that’s a failure but that’s far less egregious than screwing up the rest of free agency.

Very true. But I think FA officially Wednesday no? That day is key. Someone is playing chicken with that deadline but I’m not sure who. That deadline more important to the Jets than it is for the Packers or Rodgers.
