I picked Lamar. While it's completely irrational, unreasonable and unlikely it would be amazing to have a superstar helm the Jets after we've been locked into the Aaron Rodgers fantasy for these last few agonizing weeks. Following the champagne wishes and caviar dreams of Arod the thought of Minshew or Mayfield is like a bologna sandwich.
Neither is Rodgers or Lamar for that matter. It would involve a trade. IDK if the Titans even want to trade him, I'm just saying if they would, I'd prefer him to the other options that come to mind. Maybe if he's healthy and could be had reasonably, Stafford would be a decent fit, similar - but not as good as - Rodgers.
Lamar Jackson. I understand the hesitation in giving him a fully guaranteed deal, plus losing 2 firsts, BUT it's actually a decision that locks down our future at that position for years and 2 firsts is cheap. It's very rare that a former MVP pro bowl QB just entering his prime even becomes available. I feel like it would be silly to not try, even though Ravens likely match
Can't see a future with Tannenhill being a starting superbowl QB. No thanks. Young talent on rookie contracts....it's okay to pay a lot right now for a top qb. Lamar is worth the gamble.
I'd love Lamar under the right circumstances. By the right circumstances, I mean reasonable circumstances. That definitely seems like a pipe dream right now.
It doesn't matter. If Rodgers doesn't work out, we've already lost. Now Kirk Cousins Is being floated around as a possibility. Hard sigh. Fuck that guy.
You're right. It really won't matter who QB's this team if neither Rodgers nor Carr is behind center. Kirk Cousins played us for suckers once already. I hope Woody isn't that desperate that he'd force JD to sink that low. I'd rather Jimmy G than Cousins knowing full well he wouldn't last half the season. In the end, maybe Zach Wilson returns and JD can be done with him once and for all.
I agree, fuck Cousins the human but Cousins the player put up numbers every year in Minnesota that would’ve been the best year ever for a Jets quarterback. Put him on this team and we are in the playoffs with most likely a second round ceiling. I don’t think the ceiling is that much higher with Aaron Rodgers personally. Certainly not my first choice but I would take him every single day over the garbage left if we miss out on Aaron Rodgers.
Maybe I'm a vengeful person, not sure, but after he used us and made us out to be a joke. I would be beyond pissed If we brought him In. I don't care about the person or player.
I'd offer $45M for 5 years fully guaranteed for Jackson and hope the Ravens don't match. He's 26 so, there is a much higher upside with him than Rogers.
Jackson's season has ended in week 13 two years in a row. Kind of hard to make the SB when a guys hurt. Also hard to justify giving a running QB who struggles to stay healthy a full season a giant contract.
I don't like QBs that rely on their ability to run. They are vulnerable to injury and small injuries can slow them down enough to make them ineffective. I've seen running QBs have their careers cut short too many times. Lamar is too much of a risk in my opinion.
I go for Lamar. 26 year old, former MVP and only gonna cost you 2 1's. If Rodgers' ultimately decides to retire or go back to GB, Lamar becomes my Option A.
