Agreed. This is what teams committed to winning do. They identify their priorities and go all in on getting them. Too often the Jets have just tried to "split the baby", and cover all their bases while covering none. When the Broncos realized they were a QB away from SB contention they went after an over the hill P. Manning knowing he was a short term solution, but that even at less than full capacity he was their best chance to win. Rodgers is in even better shape than Manning was, and while people are saying he'd only give us 1-2 years, he might well shock people and give us 3-4. And all those casting shade on his "process" are ignorant IMO. He's doing what he needs to do to decide his future. If he decides his future is as QB of the Jets, there will be no second guessing or half measures on his part, and we will probably get the best version of AR there's been in years. I hope he decides to come here, it would be franchise-altering.
the point some of you seem to be missing is that rodgers has to feign that hes serious about retirement if he didnt, the packers could send him anywhere they wanted ... now, no team will trade for him without assurances that he will play next year and he effectively gets to choose his destination
Meh. I don't think so. Have you heard anything from Rodgers on what he's doing? Has that been reported In any way? I've heard plenty of talk about the Packers being ready to move on. We know Woody has a boner for getting this done. What's left In that equation? It's common sense to me. Not conjecture.
Rodgers doesn't even know what's happening. He might stay and accept a trade. He might retire. He might even accept a trade and then retire when camp rolls around and he realizes he doesn't want football any more. Hopefully any trade takes into account the fact that Rodgers might retire at any point and adjusts the compensation appropriately right down to the Jets giving up no compensation if Rodgers chooses to retire before he ever sets foot on an NFL field with them.
Yes, I’m sure it will be conditional. They won’t officially complete the paperwork until June first when the cap hit is better.
The longer this goes on the more I’m reminded of how fucking awful next offseason is going to be if we end up with this guy.
When was the last time we had a 4 time MVP QB on the roster? If he does join, there is a real reason to be optimistic for everyone. Bucks fans were a few years ago. Made play-offs every year with Brady, SB, another play-off win in 2021. Compare that to their recent history. Aaron give us a shot to do the same here.
Maybe he's being a PIA, but Maybe he's actually weighing all his options analytically? .... Maybe GB is asking too much of the JETS (or of Woody's wallet?) There was a time in society where people didnt have the need to blurt every idea to the world instaneously in the name of instant gratification.
Ugh, can't be excited about anything this year because I might be miserable next year. I feel sorry for you boss, this is incredibly exciting, I wish you could enjoy it like most of us.
I absolutely think he gives us a shot but I don't see us winning the division let alone winning a title. I'd rather it be this way than be awful but that comes with a price: repeating this next year at this time.
enjoy being linked to a Hall of Fame caliber QB? Yes. Im not going to cry over the fact that it takes some time for it all to materialize, and if by some chance it doesn’t come to fruition so be it. Id rather have a chance at Rodgers then resign myself to just signing Garapolo, etc. And im sure as hell not worried about 2024 offseason yet.
