You may be right. A lot of people in here have assumed that the Jets and Green Bay worked out the compensation before the Jets met with Rodgers, but that seems backwards to me. Until the Jets brass met face-to-face with Rodgers, the Jets wouldn't know much he's worth to the Jets and how much the Jets should give up in a trade package. They wouldn't know until they sat down with him. Here's what I mean: 1. If Rodgers is firmly committed to playing in both '23 and '24, he's worth more to the Jets than if he plans to play only in '23; and 2. If he's enthusiastic about playing for the Jets, he's worth more than if he's lukewarm or ambivalent about the Jets or about even playing this year.
I can't wait to get my season tickets. Will be a dream season at Metlife. With our defense and playmakers like Rodgers, G.Wilson, Breece Hall, Moore, 2 servicable TE's, we are back baby!
The more I read the more it seems like nothing has actually changed. No compensation worked out. No contract worked out. This is just “the Jets feel good about it”.
I agree. Nothing we have heard implies that Rodgers is close to making a decision yet. Just that the Jets feel better after meeting him.
Yeah, that could mean nothing more than that Rodgers didn't tell them to go shit in their hats. Frankly, this whole situation has gotten too weird for words.
Reeks of another “save your ass” PR move by the team. They know today would be 48 hours since meeting with Rodgers and they need to make it look like things are progressing for many reasons. Mostly because they just missed on Carr based off their assumption they were going to trade for a guy that didn’t even know if he still wanted to play football at the time Carr walked.
Yeah if Russini is correct in her reporting, they went out there to wine and dine him without the framework of a deal with the Packers, as people have stated couldn’t be the case
I’ve been under the impression that the trip to CA was “please play for us” and if it was a maybe then they’d go to the Packers to talk compensation. Nothing leads me to believe otherwise
well that’s just dumb then. The Packers should be the ones trying to convince him to play a game for $59 million in 2023, not the jets
I hate Woody Johnson more than James Dolan. Dolan at least doesn’t give a shit about money, he’s just an idiot. Woody is incompetent and cheap on top.
Of course it's been worked out there just quibbling over details right now. It's like ordering a steak dinner and trying to get mashed potatoes instead of baked. Get your forks out it's almost chow time!
Was that ever actually reported or was that just someone’s idea for a trade package? I remember it being the latter from someone in the Green Bay media. I’d love to be wrong but that would also leave us with no receiver taller than 4 feet. Would hope Lazard follows his boy here.
Don’t know how you can expect them to take on Davis’ contract, lots of Rodgers’ contract and still not give up a 1st. Unlike Woody Johnson, Green Bay is not stupid
