With Mangini taking this team in the right direction (hopefully to the promise land) I think now is the perfect time to rediscover the 78-97 unis that have been so synonymous with failure. They are owed a chance to reverse that image. I know we've all seen many heartbreaks during those years. I know the current logo should remind me of Namath but unfortunately it reminds me of Herm. Who's with me?
No, those were a painful 20 years. I don't want them back, stick with these. The first year we went back to the ones we have now we went 12-4, won the division and went to the AFC championship game. That's what they remind me of, more than Herm.
Actually I think they should use the unis they wore when they won SB3. Maybe it will instill some further pride in them since they are wearing unis of WORLD CHAMPIONs
i liked those jerseys, but i like our original ones to, itd be cool if they had some throwback days like everyone else does.
There was this site that covered all the teams and the uniform changes throughout the years but I can't find it now. Anyone know what site I'm talking about?
How bout no... I associate that uni lot of headaches and loosing and most of all Rich Kotite... and would much rather forget it. Ellis
Not to say thier weren't any great Jets during the time we wore that uniform... I'd just rather never see it worn in a game ever ever ever again. Ellis
There were some outstanding players to wear those unis--Klecko, Gastineau, Lyons, McNeil, Walker, Toon, Shuler, to name a few. But overall the ones that Namath wore are ultimately better to most people. I do find it interesting that when they put the retired numbers up on the wall at the games, Namath and Maynard are the old/new jersey and Klecko is the 78-89 version. So they haven't totally swept it under the rug, but I doubt they wear them in a game.
I kinda like the cheesey green colored ones....I like the new ones also...Id like to see them wear the others once in a while
