maybe in a couple years Cole Pennington is still a freshman at Marshall https://herdzone.com/sports/football/roster/cole-pennington/7013
The only long term solution that will allow us to be a perennial contender is to draft a QB. Just not in the top 5. The longer we put it off the longer it will take to find and develop one.
Cool story bro. I’m not sure if you’re suggesting he wasn’t actually the OC or are admitting you’re not sure exactly what’s his responsibilities we’re in GB just like you don’t know what his responsibilities are going to be here. Either way, it’s a big step and very mature to admit you don’t know. Most people would double down on their limited information and sound stupid in an attempt to sound right…. I’ll say something you’ve probably never heard before, “I’m proud of you” So we’re on the same page, I’ll make sure this is stated multiple times: Our new OC has been successful as an OC in the past and his most recent job as OC was very successful.
Ok but play out 2023, fire everyone, let the new regime draft a QB. I have zero faith in Joe Douglas' ability to find a QB and zero faith in Saleh and Paul Hackett's kid to develop one
Well I think its pretty clear he will have to call plays here. Hackett has sucked everywhere but Green Bay... where he didn't have to call plays..
That seems to be what they are going to do. I have seen us win our only SB. Black & orange might well be the new green for me. They have another QB named Joe, with the same swagger.
i'm not going to pretend to be smart enough to know if Hackett was or wasn't the best choice under the circumstances (or even a good choice). I'm on record of being skeptical of hiring laterals (and this is either lateral or demoted depending how you look) but there is some good logical argument to be made. he has coached for multiple cold weather teams. He has had success in RZ. Has had success running the ball (see cold weather comments i harp on). if it brings Rodgers, we get a cold weather QB (I know people debate it but there is a criticism that Carr is not cold weather friendly). So if you're trying to upgrade the offense NOW to get aligned with a defense that is ready for a deep playoff run, what would you rather do?
Hmmm not sure how to feel about this. Then again he's proven to be much better the MLF so this is a plus.
Saleh did meet the Boss's demand for an OC with prior experience. Can't fault him there. Now about the QB..????
We needed to hire an experienced OC... if only to attract a top veteran quarterback. Having an experienced coach that... from all reports... is good with players is a positive. Let's face it... our offense was an embarrassing mess for the last two years with MILF. I like this move.
Thinking things are clear when we have limited public information isn’t ideal. Thinking things are clear when you are holding onto incorrect information is sad. 1. “Hackett has sucked everywhere but Green Bay”... It’s been said several times but maybe it’ll actually stick this time….He made Bortles look good for 2 years calling plays 2. “Well I think it’s pretty clear he will have to call plays here”. He didn’t call plays for Denver the second half of the season, assuming he’s going to want/take/expected for that role is why you find yourself on the wrong side of history time and time again.
