The streets of New Jersey would run black and silver with the face paint of the Morlocks.

Unless Rob Ryan is a game breaking Rb I have never heard of or a huge Wilfork type slob for the line, he will not be a priority. There will be no changes to the CS this year, nor should there be..

The Jets wanted to talk to him but were not granted permission because he was under contract.

Sutton did OK against average teams but today, that defense was not prepared to stop anything. They did not even move to the ball as a group and at least make the ball carrier pay the price like good defenses like Baltimore does. Watch them on Saturday, they all swarm to the ball.

If Davis hires a coach from outside the organization and that new coach wants a different DC, Ryan will be available. If he was not offered a HC job I could see him teaming up with Mangini and Sutton staying on in another role.

I would let Sutton go another year, he improved with the D, new coordinator would cause us to have to regrow with continuity

Mangini is our defensive coordinator. And Sutton has down a great job teaching, managing Mangini's defensive scheme and coaching up players. I just don't see him leaving, nor any logical reason for him to leave.

Rob Ryan is a stud Coordinator. With all the controversy in Oakland this year, the D was pretty damn good.

I thought the rumor was Mangini wanted him, but he Al Davis re-signed him before we got a chance to interview him.

Really dosen't matter who the Raiders hire as HC because they are taking the job knowing that, they have to take the defensive staff as is. Raiders are keeping all of the defense coaches. Rob ryan will be Raiders DC for at least two more years. Unless someone offers him HC position. Unlikely at this point.

WRong . Raiders aren't messing with their defense. Probably a big reason ROB Ryan not getting their HC job. They don't want him distracted, just wanjt his sole attention on defense. He has full control over the defense. The new coach will be in charge of the offense(most likely will have offensive background)

Im pretty sure blitzing is our best shot at containing the run you saw how bad the defense was in the beginining of the year. When we started to blitz more often thats when the defense became decent. We would have been ran all over if we didnt blitz on runs and brady proably would have picked us apart even worse if we sat back in coverage cuase are front 3 would not get any pressure on Brady by themselves.

Jeaux, if that happens, Rob Ryan will be the HC of a different team in 2 years MAX.

BTW, congrats on the first overall pick, I can't wait until the day you tell us that Al Jong Il orchestrated the crappy season purposely with the hire of Shell with the goal of acquiring whatever QB they get.

Could be but really not worried about that as raiders are loaded with some very promising defensive coaches that would step in. DOn Martindale(Probably would be likely replacement)

Comeon give me a little more credit. The Raiders didn't orchestrate the crappy season just for the QB (Jamarcus Russell) , it was also for Michael Bush-they take in second round.

Oh man I'm gonna be rolling if they take Quinn.

BTW, sorry, the purposely tanking the season thing popped into my head and for some reason just sounded like something jeaux would say.

This is from Randy Lange of the Record today:

Even if he doesn't get the head coaching gig, he's not going anywhere. If the head coach isn't Ryan, it will be someone with an offensive background, which is usually what Davis does anyway. There will be changes on the offensive staff but hardly any on defense, although Chuck Pagano (d-backs coach) already left to be the defensive coordinator under Butch Davis at North Carolina State.

Quinn is going to be MUCH better than Russell. Mark my words. Russell is going to take serious time to develop.

Ryan would be an excellent acquisition. But like the article states and others have mentioned why he would leave such a job in which he built a good defense. His 1st few years the defense was trash, but after transitioning, some emergence from players such as Sapp and Asomugha, and getting alot younger, why leave such a good situation in terms of HIS PART, because the Raider situation as a whole is a pile of shit.

Obviously the Mangini factor could play in, but I highly doubt Ryan leaves Oakland.
