Yeah, just checked out the website. To begin with, in this sports radio channel, who's a Jet and who's a Giant? Mike and the Mad Dog on right now..
Well said Arguably the worst thing that happened to these guys is being exposed to Camp Herm. The rooks like Brick, Mangold, and Leon know what they're going to get though so I doubt we'll ever see them complain. Mangini's camp is all they know.
Mike is a Parcells lover and a Giants fan. Maddogg is just a New York hater, he hates the Yankees,Mets,Giants, and Jets. Benigno and Roberts from mid-days 10-1 are the Jets fans.
These guys arent bitching at all. Their saying how although it sucks their gonna work hard push through it to make them a better team. One of the reasons we were 10-6 was because of toughness which was set in training camp so I dont think these players were bitching thats a load of crap. Mangini even said they had a good camp this past year.
They'll still go and do it, and I don't think Vilma's comments were that bad, it sounded like he knew it was coming and he was going to do it, but it isn't easy. I also think Mangini lays off the vets, TC is to instill work ethic in you, but if you already have that work ethic it is not a problem. Do you think guys like Curtis Martin, Jerry Rice or even Vinny T ever would have a problem with the Mangini camp? I doubt it, those guys were absolute workout warriors, and as a result they are extremely durable and played pretty far beyond the average retirement age of people in their positions. 2 of those guys are Hall of Famers, and the third isn't bad at all. You get a team of those types of guys, and you have a team that is very hard to beat.
That sucks. I'm at school at that time. Alright, thanks EcKo. WFAN should have the Vilma interview up by when?
Depends. Sometimes they have it on within an hour of the show ending. And sometimes around nighttime, but it will definately be on the website by tonight at the latest. Exactly. His comments weren't bad at all. I was just giving the point that the people who were bitching about Coles' comments, which weren't even bad to look at it from Vilma. And Vilma even said other players aren't looking forward to it, but they know it has to be done and you gotta work. Simple as that.
I find it ridiculous that guys are publicly expressing that they think training camp will be brutal. You're in the NFL for a reason, you have to work hard to get to the next level and they should accept that. When you don't work hard you get Herman Edwards teams.
nobody is looking forward to training camp. but thats definitely not the case with our players. they absolutely hate it...doesnt sound too good.
Nobody likes camp. Im sure mangini actually likes it that way. Like italian seafood said, if people are looking forward to two a days in 100 degree heat, then something is wrong. Its not like coles or vilma, are going to retire because of camp. Gimme a break They ask him about camp, would you rather him Lie ? You guys like liars ? Come gametime these two guys are gonna give 110%, so really whats the problem ?
i'm excited to see what vilma can do with some real road-graders in front of him, and i also would like to see the staff use him some more, maybe in blitzing situations as well....should be a great off-season, can't wait
Right, he doesn't care if they win or lose. He's just supposed to weep and mourn about the loss for weeks and weeks on end.
Please. Jeter was probably balls deep in some model before the Tigers left the field. I know I would have been.
Hehe, don't worry, Mangini will have all of the Herm-camp pheromones out of the vet's systems by the end of the next camp. Musta been nice going to camp knowing you had a job and would be doing the exact same thing you did the year before so Herm wouldn't make ya practice much beforehand.
Here is the interview. I'm not a big fan of Evan Roberts, but he and Benigno constructed a very good interview with Vilma. http://wfan.com/play_window.php?audioType=Episode&audioId=235384
i honestly think, with vilma, its nothing to worry about. Hes a hard worker, and no one looks foward to the camps. but the difference with winners and losers is how bad you want it, and much your willing to endure.. This isnt Club Ed, if you cant man up and handle it, then leave, because we dont need em. unless it has the effect Bear Bryants camp had on his texas a&m boys in '54.
Stop worrying about the players complaining about training camp. Everyone complains - it doesn't mean anything. Each player's contract is incentive-laden. And each player wants their value as a free agent and as a media/advertising personality to go up. The only way to do that is to produce on the field. The only way to produce on the field is to be in the game. The only way to get in the game is to show Mangini in training camp you deserve to be there. So these guys will show up to camp, they will try their hardest, and they will excel, complaining all the while.
