His demeanor doesn’t look to me of Someone falsely accused of what’s head accused of. He seems damn calm. Not confirmed, but I heard that they found evidence in a bathroom drain , where he may have tried to clean himself up before leaving. But with the amount of shit thrown around on the net, who knows. I just think they must have some really damning evidence to make an arrest here. Maddie’s dad said a week ago, that the killer made a huge mistake in the house, I’m also wondering that for as much as he may planned it, it didn’t go as expected… namely having to get really sloppy with some fighting back. Has to be back in Idaho within ten days. I’m guessing he will be there within 48 hours.
YouTube channels are an absolute circus with this. Some are good and sticking to reality and facts, some are just off the wall.
Most of the media I have seen is like Siegfried the Sickening Hag quality. If the trend continues I think his lawyer is going to have a field day in jury selection.
I'm hesitant to project based on his lack of emotion. He may just be in shock. That's a perfectly reasonable demeanor if you're actually innocent of a heinous crime you've been charged with. I think 99.9% of the stuff floating around about the case is pure conjecture and most of it is more influenced by the conjecturer than by the suspect. Everybody is projecting onto him and then catching the reflections. There was some completely psycho 'forensic psychologist' saying that his hyper veganism means that he has cannibalistic urges... That's like total click-bait.
He was fat when he was a kid and picked on for it. That’s why he’s “hyper-vegan” now idk guys I understand your point about him being calm but we only see him for a couple minutes in shackles and surrounded by many guards. It’s an ass beating if he’s NOT calm
I wonder what his defense will be. It’s been said they can’t afford a defense team. He’s been assigned a public defender named Ann, they sent a team of investigators to the house today.
I haven't been following this as close as others probably, but I don't see much connecting him to the crime as of right now. There has to be more that will come out during the trial.
That’s why he waived his extradition so quickly. He wants to get back to Idaho with his lawyers and see what the sealed affidavit says. Pretty wild how you’re guilty before proven innocent in the court of public opinion these days. The third party database DNA being a viable source of information is pretty scary too. That reeks of more Making a Murderer cases occurring.
With the level of attention this case has gotten, and the ways of the hens on these true crime YouTube, they could have announced the pope as the accused and they would have ran with it. I still think they must have a good case, and would t risk losing it… but he’s still innocent as of today.
I don’t believe ancestral dna would be enough in this case. Probably enough for the arrest, but they will most likely have his, or already do (I’ve read unconfirmed from garbage pickup at his parents over Xmas). Also, the fbi signed off on this arrest too. If it were just the Moscow pd, I may feel different. So many possible rabbit holes with this case though…from the frats and the importance of the college to the town, to the wacky religious group on main st.
The way the "authorities" are handling this is Kafkaesque: 1. They already know they're going to arrest him yet they stop the car twice and let him go both times only to raid his parents house at 3 in the morning by breaking windows etc. 2. They literally went over there with 50 people--they had him stopped on the highway with one trooper 3. No evidence is presented in court regarding the indictment 4. They're saying that it will be at least a year until the trial--so this dude has to sit in jail all that time I honestly think the cops are causing people to root for the bad guy here.
I think it’s Idaho law that it’s sealed until he is in their custody. He is reportedly on his way right now, if they do t request to keep it sealed, we may see the arrest affidavit as soon as tomorrow with the probable cause for arrest. they said they are keeping the body cam from the first pull over , as it’s part of the investigation. should be interesting
To me, it seems to be pretty routine for a crime of this magnitude: 1. Were those stops orchestrated by the Idaho investigators or coincidental? 2. With a guy suspected of this kind of violence, you can bet your ass the police obtained a no-knock search warrant. When you enter forcibly, there will be some damage to doors or windows. The time - 3 a.m. - is when all occupants were likely to be asleep, so there would be less chance of resistance. Fifty people to execute the warrant seems to be a bit excessive, but in the world we live in, the cops undoubtedly felt it was better to be safe than sorry. That, by the way, protects the occupants of the house as well as the police. A strong show of force discourages the defendant or anyone else inside from doing something stupid. 3. There is no indictment. He was arrested on a criminal complaint. An indictment will come later. 4. A year until trial isn't odd. If anything, it's optimistic. Look at what needs to be done: (a) the State will provide pre-trial discovery. That will undoubtedly be voluminous, and it will take time for the defense to review and analyze; (b) the defense will undoubtedly file various pre-trial motions to exclude physical evidence and any statements the defendant made. It takes time for the parties to brief those issues and for them to be argued in court. Whichever side loses is likely to file interlocutory appeals. (c) Do you want to pick a jury next week? We're at the height of the media frenzy over this case. Do you think it would be easy to find 12 people in Idaho who don't have an opinion on guilt or innocence? The passage of time will let things die down some. Even then, finding 12 impartial jurors won't be easy (unless they change venue to Mars or Pluto). If defendant isn't happy with this, he can file a speedy-trial motion and let a judge decide if the delay is excessive.
To point C, this is just going to keep getting harder and harder with todays media coverage and information availability. Is there any word as to if he’s definitely going with the public defender? Quick twitch feeling is that he doesn’t take a plea deal and wants to see the trial through. I’m not saying I think they did anything wrong but there was definitely a feeling surrounding the trial of sloppiness and anxiousness to find someone along with the local police being overwhelmed as to how to comb through the crime scene. Maybe he’s betting on a huge DNA collection mishap to be discovered in order to walk.
I actually think the local police did an awesome job on this case. They have carefully held their cards and haven't made a media spectacle of it. The stops on the highway were coincidental, everyone gets pulled over in Indiana
I agree. They did a good job keeping it close and quiet. Despite the internet getting triggered by the lack of info and going full crazy.
