Kaylees father said he sees a connection between him, and Kaylee. Probably digital footprint. From what I’ve seen, he seems like the Incel type. But I definitely believe this was targeted .
If they manage to convict him they really need to have the Behavioral Science people spend a lot of time with him. He apparently was a really nice very cordial person until his Junior year in high school. He transformed from a slightly obese nice guy into a rail-thin aggressive personality type over his 17th summer. Figuring out what happened there is going to be pure gold for the profilers. We know about the link between puberty and schizophrenia. Figuring out what switched him would be an amazing find out of a terrible tragedy.
I think the interest in criminology is a glaring red light here. I'd put him in the "planning to kill" category without necessarily drawing the conclusion he was going to do it repeatedly.
He reportedly asked if anyone else was arrested. Wonder what that’s about. Maybe he had help, maybe it was some kind of tactic. I wonder how he goes about this. My initial thought was that he doesn’t fight extradition, and doesn’t put up much of a fight, maybe even confesses. Sometimes a psychopath outcast wants this to be his identity. On the other hand, how far he was in his major, he may put up a very tough fight.
If he's already talking odds are pretty good he is going to try to get a deal - with the death penalty off the table. The question about whether anybody else was arrested may be his first probe into whether a deal is possible.
Kaylees mother recently said that she went on a date recently , didn’t go well, and that she told her mother she missed jack. Saw something else , that she said the guy “creeped her out”. I think we will find that this was personal, not random. Just mho
This guy was pursuing a doctorate in criminal justice, so I suspect he may become a "jailhouse lawyer." These are guys who know a little bit but not as much as they think. They believe they're clever enough to devise a fool-proof way to beat the system. It never works, and the prison system is full of guys whose clever schemes backfired. However, a jailhouse lawyer can make even a simple proceeding, like an interstate extradition, into an ordeal. We probably won't learn much about the State's proofs until after this guy is returned to Idaho. Apparently under Idaho law, the arrest-warrant affidavit remains sealed until the defendant is back in state. That affidavit should tell us a lot about what evidence the State has.
Apparently, he stayed at school until winter break. With the car… which would mean that he was 7-8 miles away well after they announced the search for the white Elantra. Also, in one of the crime scene photos, there is a jack in the box bag with xanas name on it. There is no jack in the box in Moscow, but there is one in Pullman. Wonder if he could have door dashed for some extra cash. Also some speculation that he’s on the grub truck video before the girls arrived, but I haven’t seen that.
Cnn reported that he is expected to waive his extradition hearing, and is anxious to return to Moscow to prove his innocence. Per his public defender.
So Xana and Ethan get home at 1:45am. Maybe they order from Jack-in-the Box then? Kohberger is the door-dasher who brings the food to them. He argues that he tripped outside and cut himself entering the home, delivered the food, then left. This would explain both the DNA and the sighting of the white Elantra at the crime scene. Of course odds are the Jack-in-the-Box bag was from earlier in the evening and that there's no record that Kohberger door-dashed to the residence. And you'd think the authorities would already have explored that lead and squashed it. If however the scenario is valid then the authorities ask Kohberger why he did not come forward when the murders were announced? He says as a criminology student he knew that anybody inserting themselves around the crime scene would come under suspicion. Given the cut and the possibility he had left DNA at the scene he panicked and decided not to come forward. He's penitent about his failure to report his presence at the crime scene. If faced with a total denial of the scenario by the authorities, which is the likely case, then Kohberger goes public with "they're just trying to tie this up with a pretty bow so the college can get back to normal." This is all total fantasy of course but it illustrates all the pitfalls the investigation is still facing as the authorities try to get the case under control.
Knowing college students, that bag could be a week old. It’s right next to a Starbucks cup. I was thinking it was ballsy of him to still be in school with that car right up til Xmas, but then thought it would be even more suspicious if he had disappeared.
Seems like the guy's father drove to Washington to drive him back to Pennsylvania. Most people going home for the holidays fly or drive themselves; why would he leave a perfectly decent car 2500 miles away? Could it be the purported question about anyone else being arrested refer to his father being an accessory after the fact? Another story tonight says the Hyundai was seized at the family home in Pennsylvania so the question now would be did the father also drive to Washington for some reason or is that story bogus?
Definitely got stranger with that bit of information. The Moscow Police Chief said that they had their guy and no more arrests were in the works. That immediately made me wonder whether they're tracking somebody else but can't find them. Where did we get the info on the father leaving his car in Washington? If that happened then something is definitely rotten there. Edit: the only info I can find on his dad making the trip with him said that the dad flew out and then drove cross country with him. That's a lot less suspicious. In fact given the weather across the country recently I'd have probably flown out to help son drive home also. That's a long drive, maybe 2 days with 2 drivers but probably 3 with one.
The original story had the father picking up the son and, presumedly leaving the Hyundai out west. Later story said the Hyundai was seized in Pennsylvania. Probably just screwed up reporting but if the father did go out to Washington there may be questions about what he knew or if he had anything to do with moving any possible evidence.
Definitely. I think we will see some info released when he gets back to Idaho, but a lot will have to be kept still for jury reasons, especially with no weapon.

Agreed. Nothing strange about flying across the country to help your son drive home. I’m curious as to what links this dude to the scene though. I’m not saying I believe he’s innocent in any sense, but the local department HAD to find someone eventually before this shit went cold or they might as well close the college.
