Merry & Happy to all! It's Xmas day... now that most of us have released some of the Zach frustration, just a reality-check for Jets fans... I assume many of you have seen that some fans DM'd Zach's mother, after Thursday's game. Everyone's aware of all the Boos for Zach at Met-Life, even before kickoff. Sure, it's a release of frustration, but wouldn't most of you have preferred Zach playing well, & the Jets winning Thursday night?? Did booing help Zach/the team play well? But it sure felt good, eh? Why do so many of you dehumanize Zach, & forget he's a 23 yr-old kid, who's been going thru crazy public humiliation, for not grasping the QB position? Most of us have been 23, some of us recently, some of us like me, too many years ago. Just for a second, can you imagine being 23, under the pressure of the largest media market, & being relentlessly attacked? Then going before your team's 'fans', in the biggest game of your life, & they're booing you when you take the field? Not really set up for success, ya think? As a Jets fan, I don't get it. Football's an emotional game... ya think a cheering crowd might've helped the team, rather than boos? Zach's said he's trying to remind himself of the fun of football. At kickoff, he was already being booed. What fun. So, please tell me, how after so many years of frustration with this team, destroying a 23-yr-old kid, is your answer? And please, we've seen all the hate, the wise-cracks, the nonsense. If you can't be serious, please don't reply. I'd like to see one thread, where people keep it serious, & just keep it honest. As an aside, I didn't want them to draft Zach. I thought he was spoiled rich kid, with some accuracy issues... a real project. But over the last month, or so, I've changed my opinion of him... as a person. Since that presser, when he emotionally reacted with his "no, no" comment, he's stood tall, taken the heat in public, & been refreshingly honest, even right after his most public humiliation... Thursday's loss. He's a courageous kid... & I'm pulling for him to get the coaching/mentoring he needs, if he has any chance of succeeding. The Jets have failed him. So have the fans. Merry & Happy, to you & all those you care about!
Wilson is will be out of the NFL, that wasn't just for suck ass Wilson, but directed at the organization, the fanbase is sick and tired of being sold rainbows and unicorns, and the same garbage play year in year out, failing miserably
Family is off limits. Disgraceful he did that. I never wanted ZW and I don't think he's thr answer, but I agree, booing each throw only makes our team worse, so those fans are contributing to hurting our playoff chances. Ppl need to remember he's a kid...
Ok Post my friend..Peace to you and Family Xmas Day As I have posted 2xs I really believe Wilson has a Learning Disability ..I feel its ADD: Examples are lack of focus and impulsive decision making , poor organizational skills , doesn't learn fast etc. Sound familiar ? His poor decisions on field and opening his mouth without thinking are examples . Maybe I am wrong but my friend NC once talked about it. So from a medical perspective he deserves some understanding on that .. But in ways other ways I am still a 55 plus angry fan ..So the CS and GM should have seen this sooner
Merry XMas to you, but I disagree with your take. Zach got fan support and a free pass for pretty much 1 1/2 years. How did the Jets fail him ?? The team was built around him - every resource was utilized to give him an opportunity for success. How did the fans fail him ?? They supported him for a long time. It is one thing if he started at a low point and failed to progress, but somehow he REGRESSED from that low point. The team was poised to make the playoffs and instead collapsed. Many reason, not all on the QB, but really who doesnt believe that with even adequate QB play that we wouldnt have won at least two of those lost games and been in a playoff position drivers seat. What, are fans supposed to cheer for an unacceptable level of play ???? Yes, he is a 23 YO kid, but once you take the money you become accountable. He had off-season issues that mostly got brushed under the rug. That was the first time I had concerns about Zach.....................character counts, especially for your QB team leader. The locker room support for Mike suggests that there may have been some behind the scenes character issue, and maybe there were, and maybe those issues came out at his disastrous presser. the only good I see in this is that Zach was SOOOOOO bad, it makes it easy for the team to move on. Had he progressed just a little bit, we might have had to deal with him for a third season.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays! Bc he’s getting paid 35 million dollars…if I’m Making 10% of it for my job I would sure as shit do everything to be best at it. I don’t see zw doing this, if he is and not getting better boos and humiliation are deserved.
It's sad but true and unfortunately, this has always been a part of professional sports. Many people tie their own lives to professional teams and athletes. It's unhealthy emotional behavior. Personally, I used to get very emotional about my favorite sports teams, but I managed to reduce my dependence on them. Don't take sports so seriously.
Oh, cry me a freakin' river. Just like the kid is crying all the way to the bank with $35M for being a flunky practice squad QB at best. Maybe the Jets should give Zach a raise and an extension to help his bruised ego recover from this overwhelmingly traumatic experience? Expecting the great unwashed to unconditionally support and have sympathy for overpaid athletes who suck is a bit of a stretch. Son, you're not in Kansas anymore.
Stop making excuses for him. This industry is what have you done recently. Booing is apart of the sport. You win people will love you. Plain and simple
Incredibly well stated. I don't really post on the boards because , well, I just dont want to get involved in an endless back and forth that usually degrades quickly. But your post resonated so I felt the need to add my opinion. I apologize for the length. To really dig into our current QB situation you have to start with 2018. We drafted Sam Darnold, and by most accounts he was the clear choice at 3. Our team at the time, like most who draft at the top, was in need of a facelift. By the start of year 2 we were hopeful. The first half of the opener against Bills we were clicking. Then CJ goes down at the half and it quickly goes bad. What follows is a barrage of injuries, poor coaching, mono and on and on. But then something interesting happens at 1-7. We get heathy. We get going. 6-2 to end the season. Sam is AFC player of the week once and its wait until next year. 2020 comes , the Covid season. A disaster. Once again, we lead the league in injuries, and it gets worse and worse. Gase loses control. Our OL is getting Sam and any QB back there killed. Gase is deservedly fired. Now what to about the QB spot? Well Sam is basically run out of town by the fans and media. Proclaimed a bust. Some, including myslef, make the argument that sticking with Sam and building an OL around him and a proper coaching staff can help him grow and develop his potential. Not in NY. 2020 draft - We take Zach with the 2. We hire a Defensive HC and an inexperienced OC. Here's where it gets tricky. IMO if you make that move to build around a 21 yo QB you have to have patience. More patience this market allows. So i argued that under no circumstance should we build around a young QB. If we were going to move off of Sam, we needed to go vet. Now if you feel inclined, go to youtube and watch 10 or so games from Trevor L, first year and first half of this year. Not pretty. Here's the difference. They have an unwavering belief that TL is their guy. They bring in a SB winning coach and we are currently watching their patience pay off. Jeff Lageman is the Jags radio guy and I got talk to him a bit about TL before thursdays game and he gives a ton of credit to Doug P. for being a great teacher and showing unwavering patience. QB is absolutely the hardest position in sport. If you are a young, inexperienced QB and you dont have the OL (for whatever reason - injuries, incompetence, whatever it is) and you dont have the proper coaching, you just cant succeed. Zach Wilsons time in NY is over. He was not given the chance to succeed here. If the refs dont call that horrid roughing call against JFM during first pats game or if our D doesnt blow our lead vs detroit or if saleh doesnt look at our timeouts like an advanced calculus equation, are we having these same talks about Zach???? Maybe, maybe not. ......At the same time we watch Sam start to click in Carolina , under a team they basically dismantled. TODAY - We are somehow very likely in a win and in situation, as everything has broken for us this weekend. I have no idea who will be QB or how we will get it done, but if we have a shot , who knows. Lets go!!! We can have our differences of opinions, but we all want the same thing. Lets just be classy about it and not harass a guys mother on IG or chase after the GM after the game screaming at him. FUTURE - Moving forward, I have 0 idea who our qb will be in 2023, other than it won't be Zach. Zach - I hope he winds up in the NFC on a team with a good OL and a good coaching staff. I believe he can have a lot of success in this league. Jets - We have the D. We have Breece, GW and some weapons. I just hope we have a really good OL that stays relatively healthy, and I think the rest will fall into place. I hope our coaches improve. They are also young and learning. FINALLY - Just please stop drafting QBs. It doesnt work and will never work for this franchise. GO JETS!!
I don’t really care about Zach Wilson aside of not wanting him to destroy the team. Looks like that will be avoided. Happy trails Zach Wilson.
Nicely stated. All you need to do is read some of the classy responses by some, choke, choke, and you get a better sense as to why some dehumanize players the way they do. Keeping it classy is completely beyond some.
