Look coles has had so many injuries and played through them. He has been injury prone and is getting up there in age for the beating he takes. While i like Chad, he does throw a lot of dummy passes that get his WRs killed. Coles is the definition of toughness but I think he might be getting close to retirement. This sounds more like "Im almost done" than "I dont like the coach".

Hes hurt right now and hes bummed out after the loss. Coles will be back Im sure after he sees the amazing moves we will make in the offseason. As long as we dont have another offseason where Kimo is touted as our best pickup than im happy. Im just excited for our draft after lasts years amazing picks

I would think this camp would be ten times easier for the guys that have been in his camp before because they will know what Mangini is looking for and not have to run so many laps around the field when they make a mistake.

He's just blowing off steam. He is a total malcontent, but he'll be back, and play as hard as he did this year.

I don't care, there is simply no excuse. The more we hear from Coles, the more Mangini will be losing credibility from his other players. Laveranues is all heart and hustle on the field, but he is really pissing me off all year long with his constant mouthing off to the media. I mean, is he an idiot?

Your not worth the trouble, Laveranues. Get with the program or demand a trade, genius!

I missed the clip on the radio, so I would like to see an actual quote.

I agree with those who are saying he's just blowing off steam.

And I wouldn't worry about the coach losing credibility with the players, he has the full support of the true leaders of this team (e.g. Chad, Vilma, Kendall, Rhodes)

Bingo! Don't get me wrong, Coles is a very good player, a game-changing one for the Jets at times, but I can't hear 'Coles plays with a big chip on his shoulder' without thinking of how jealous and angry he probably felt when he heard Warrick's draft spot and initial payday. Players with chips on their shoulders have dual goals: the respect and the money. With some players they are the same thing.

Laveranues isn't too far removed to the punk flipping the bird on his way out the door to Washington.

What is it with the horrible alliteration on this board. Classless Colvin, Classless Coles. Come one.

    Always avoid annoying alliterations.

Jeez. Now I haven't heard the interview, but to me, from what I am seeing all he is saying is "We worked our asses off this year, and it didn't work out. That sucks, a lot."

Amazing how Coles is always a malcontent for speaking his mind.

And before people start jumping on my back saying "He gets paid to play, so STFU," do you get paid to do your job? Do you still bitch when you feel things aren't right?

But he makes so much money to do what he does, right? I'll bet an illegal immigrant, working for peanuts, would say they same thing about you.

Everyone wants to jump on someone's back after a loss. Just let it go already.

You know, I started 'reading the hidden meaning' behind Coles' quotes when he first started mouthing off in the offseason, and I'm tired of it. If you have to interpret the hidden meaning in every one of his quotes, maybe there is no hidden meaning. Maybe he means exactly what he is saying.

I think the part of the quote that makes people angry is where he said that he didn't want to go through a Mangini training camp again. He said that going through that tough training camp isn't worth it unless you win a superbowl. I don't think its that big of a deal but thats why people are angry.

Nobody looks forward to training camp, he just said what everybody else is thinking. Ive even heard vilma admit to hating camp. Lets be serious, anybody whoever played football on any level, doesnt like camp.

And just to add onto that point the timing of this statement is key. Coles made this statement one day after a loss in a playoff game where he played hurt and is banged up. If this remark was made before training camp next year it would be taken in a completely different light. Since it was made now, I believe that it isn't that big of a deal and will be forgotten

They worked thier asses off, gave thier all and lost in the first round. Wtf. Hes angry. You play to win :)/)

Of course we can look at from a different persepective and say thisthis team is heading in the right direction, in a few years well be a championship caliber team. Some of these guys dont have a few years, coles is what 29 ? How long before hes past his prime. This guy plays hard non stop, gives 100% no matter what. Gets the brains knocked out his head in miami and is back after a few mins. C'mon Now

In fact id respect him less if hed smile in the camera and say, I cant wait to get back in camp next year.

Oooweeee, cant wait for them two a days. Yup Yup

Don't we want our players, especially our biggest playmaker, working as hard as they possibly can? So hard, in fact, that only a super bowl would make it worth while. It sounds like coles wants to put in "wild card" effort. If thats the case, fuck him, lets get something for him

Are you serious? How can you be a Jets fan and not appreciate what Coles did for this team today. He is the toughest receiver I have ever watched. He gets hit time and time again going over the middle and always seems to get up. He gets abused on some of those plays but he pops up with teh ball. He was frustrated and hurt and didn't wasn't looking forward to the upcoming training camp. Like an above poster said, an NFL training camp isn't supposed to be fun. He isn't supposed to enjoy it. Coles will get over his injuries and be ready to go next training camp. By the beginning of next season he will be back to his 1,000 yard form and we will be fine. How can you even consider trading the guy.
